Anyone who can see Polaris can make first hand naked eye observations with the same authority as any native elders. Polaris will be the North star for
a long, long time. It moves in a tiny circle but for practical observation purposes it's stationary. Look at it at the beginning of the night. Look
at it throughout the night. If the sun were visibly setting in a different place than expected Polaris would be visibly moving in a larger circle. And
it doesn't.
