Ice ages are not caused by the earths wobble they are caused by events like ocean currents stopping, volcanic eruptions, massive methane releases, comet impacts.

For love of Gods and Goddesses new and old will anybody just do a cursory search of the term ice age or just pay attention in elementary school. There can't be a new ice age until the last one ends. This is an ice age. Right now. Right where you are. Look outside. You are looking at an ice age that's been going on two and a half million years. We just happen to be in between periods of glaciation. Look it up. I can't even comprehend how this could be news to literate people.

Fluctuations in the amount of insolation (incoming solar radiation) are the most likely cause of large-scale changes in Earth's climate during the Quaternary. In other words, variations in the intensity and timing of heat from the sun are the most likely cause of the glacial/interglacial cycles.

It is at the top of the page when you google, "what causes ice ages to come and go".

Global ice ages and warming periods are caused by Earths wobble, axial tilt and orbit around the sun (Milankovitch Cycles). This cycle affects the amount of energy we receive from the sun. This cycle has its extremes and its mild points. At extremes it effects the oceans conveyor belts, causes greenhouse gases to either thaw or freeze which further affect the global temperature.

Though yes, if a big enough object smashes into Earth it would cause an ice age out of sync with the natural cycle. Volcanoes affect global temperatures to a lesser degree and shorter duration unless a big one goes off or a bunch of small ones in a close time period. Generally the ash is the greatest factor, reflecting the sun before its energy reaches the surface (causing moderate cooling).

I'd ease up on the snap judgements until you have a better handle on the basics.

So true. Why would the government lie about this. If they had said well we need green energy because of smog and polution of the environment, you wouldve all nod and said true true lets get on with it. The theory doesnt make sense, at all. If anything big oil companies are behind this so called debunking of global warming.

Well, the fact that we see no solutions being offered by the governments or anyone else save for taxation systems that line the pockets of the same oil companies.

I would say the OIL COMPANIES are behind BOTH sides, and the scientists reflect that reality.

Stop charging those who have NO say in how things are done to save the planet, and maybe some people will take heed.

Until then, no one cares , and no one should, incomplete science, overhyped hysteria, no rises in the oceans makes it seem very incredibly stupid, not to mention the fact that a warmer planet would be a NICE thing maybe.

I don't Get it? Not long ago, everybody telles out about increased solar activity, the earth was in danger, now we have another problem, the sun's activity is flatlining, either it is dying or it is regaining it's massive powers, threatening to destroy us all, one way or another... I'm getting pretty sick of this sheep herding..

What is this? Last year norway had it's warmest summer in over 70 years, And today we're told that we have over a centimeters ahead of us with a mini ice age? I realy don't think that this is worth giving much attention?

Saw on the news that the great lakes are pretty much frozen solid, as in covered with ice. I don't remember ever seeing this before, and am wondering, does this happen often? Perhaps I'm just unaware.
