It consumes far to much of the energy of anyone who wants to eat real, untainted food. Less now, thank goodness.

And again, betcha there aren't many people who have this obsession and this alone. Underlying issues are always at the root of it.

Also, the focus here is more "why the new focus on this" that the disorder itself. I should have made that clearer but I'm not all that focused today so...sorry.

Well they already have a name for that disorder and you stated it in your post...

It's called "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder".

The question is, why are they creating a "new" disorder that's really just an old disorder that already exists.

My gf is slightly OCD but I don't hear of any special disorder called "Cansus Labelus Needsus to be Facing Forwardus".

Why the distinction? It's redundant and obviously a part of an agenda.

Ummmm....where do i begin?!?
Let me start with the obvious...humanity is enjoying the longest life spans in our history...by a margin so vast it boggles the mind.
Even when you include murder and accidental deaths, the statistics for living are astronomically more favorable than at any other time in human history.
This is not debatable.
What is the obvious factor enhancing potential for an extended life? Simple: caloric intake.
A starved body will suffer from calamities eclipsing morbid obesity. Again, this is factual....not a debate.
Karen Carpenter vs Mama Cass....cass wins by a hair.
Now for the vast majority of us who live in the "normal" range of weight we stand supremely better chances than anorectics and the morbidly obese.
Again, a fat diabetic Norther Mexican will survive longer than a sub saharan african even when AIDS is removed from the equation.

So, in short, eat...no one is controlling your thoughts except your own brain...

What's wrong with living to eat? It's a wonderful thing to whip up homemade pancakes with real buttermilk, sugar etc on a Sunday morning with a side of bacon! I think enjoying food and cooking and eating food that tastes good is one inexpensive way to actually enjoy life, culture, relationships. You don't have to eat chicken breasts, tofu pudding, and green juice to be healthy! That's kind of the point of this whole discussion.

Nothing wrong with it.

Just meant some people do one or the other to the extreme. And some just don't think about it at all.

They think there are to many people in the world and healthy food will allow you to live over 100 years old, this is a danger to the system in place. They feel they must kill use slowly through the food supply to reduce the population. But in reality if every one ate good food we would not need a hospital on every corner and this country would be wealthy again.I was told secretly that the medical industry knows it is the BENEFICIARY OF AMERICAS WEALTH.

Yeah. I admit I'm kind of in the middle which is hard. I'll obsess about eating healthy then I'll have my vices like Cadbury chocolate bars and Eggo waffles. Hell I know it's bad for you but how can people not feel the urge to down a nice cold cola or pop when the mood and craving hits?

For me, moderation's the key. Have Cadbury (I love the Fruit and Nut!), have whatever....but just not every day and not exclusively...even though I could probably live on those LOL

That could well be part of it. My guess is that it's probably simpler than that. They just want the profit. And feed into each others' profit chains. And if depopulation is a side effect of that, either intentional or not, they wouldn't lose a moments sleep or shed a single tear. They're covered.

I have to say that some people are taking the whole healthy eating to a whole new level.

I believe they are talking about the obsessive types that think eating one cheeseburger will kill you.

There is a difference in choosing to eat healthy and completely letting it take over every thought every minute of the day.

From reading the posts in this thread I can see that this will not be a popular opinion, but it is just like everything else. There are drug addicts, porn addicts, food addicts, just about everything else addicts, why would an obsession of eating healthy be any different?

Not an unpopular opinion at all.

The interest for many of us lies in why this push (or re-push) now when it appears that this was defined as a disorder in maybe 2010?

And yes, there are some people like that, probably probably very, very few. And of course more will probably "get" this disorder the more it's out there.

And finally, I get what you're saying about addiction, but I wouldn't call eating healthy an addiction at all. And a few people overdoing it doesn't require a separate diagnosis, medication, or focus, not in my mind anyway.

So again, why all the focus is my main question. Is it that prevalent? No one seems to have any numbers either.

Don't even get me started on the food industry. I am totally not eating meat any more.

Gee, it may well be a mental disorder. I know quite a few people who shop at the food coop and eat healthy foods. They are in really good health, even the health department workers have evidence of that. They don't get sick that often and don't worry about getting fat. I think not worrying about getting fat may be a delusion. I think all that healthy food is going to their head and opening up parts of the brain that normal people can't access. That is why they seem to feel really good and healthy all the time, they are living in a delusion. Strange thing is that quite a few doctors and people working in psychiatry shop there too, so they must be just trying to experience the delusion that others have.

I actually can not name one person that is not delusional about something. We're all in the same boat except those working at Monsanto who aren't supposed to eat any GMO foods.

Come to Texas. I believe eating one cheeseburger here probably CAN kill you. We just opened up a restaurant called HEART ATTACK GRILL. (Says it all, doesn't it?)

Well from a certified looneytunes then, here's a message to the Psychotic Psychiatrists who came up with this absolute HOGWASH: go fornicate with yourself .In a GMO cornfield.Or in the middle of McDonalds for that matter.

I shall feed my children the healthiest foods I can afford-if that means I have a mental disorder,at least the kiddies with the bat# crazy mama has the edge.Really how do these people even look in a mirror without flinching? You could feed me a mountain of their psychotropic drugs and I could'nt even sprout bull# like this. And they're saying this with a straight face?? While Sober?

Um the meat industry is way better and more humane than its ever been! Read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Plus we have plenty of options where to buy properly raised meat. We have many areas of improvement to be made but a lot meat is actually raised pretty humanely and healthfully. Some isn't.

Yeah, well, no. In my view the only way we can tangentially hook this in to blame the government is to blame the Congress critters who have stock in these killer corporations and block and pass laws according to how much goes into their own bank accounts.

In my view this is exactly why they get the blame. They use their position to push this crap and shape/block laws. They use their position/allow themselves to be pimped out because of their position, and because of position they have the largest influence.
