To imply that not liking faux news means i have a dislike for conservative values is funny at best.

No. disliking Fox News doesn't imply anything, but your snide remarks on conservative values do.

So you feel offended by me disliking faux news, good for you, this is a thread about fox news, try to stay on topic.

From a murikain fox point of view id probably be called a communist.

So now your calling me a troll, whos the mad person here.

Can i ask you why do you think that faux news is a bastion of defense for conservative values?

The lil baby public must be sheltered from reality in your view, that seems to be your message.

We used to be able to bring the public the news with respect - for the dead and for the dying

People need to get angry about things that deserve getting angry about.

Some people are evidently not intelligent enough to be outraged without watching an entire film of a man's gruesome and inhumane death - every last second of it

Who are these people that can't understand the story without some torture porn to go with it?

During the Vietnam war the liberal press continuously showed "snuff porn". It was on the news nearly every night, I remember, my father was there and I didn't miss the news.
The liberal press said they did it to show the horror of war and why we needed to stop the war.

For liberals to backtrack now and say that a conservative news source should not show what they showed nonstop for years is the height of hypocrisy.

Actually the liberals were right during Vietnam, showing the snuff porn on every news cast did shorten the war and made people want to see the war end. They were horrified.

And now the conservative news is right. Showing the films of what is really happening will horrify people. And like the liberal press of the Vietnam era, may spur people into action to put an end to the horrors.

I lived through the Vietnam war era and saw the media bias then, too. Media complicity to get the people on the side of the warmongering industrial military complex was the same then as it is today. Case in point is this immolation. Buddhist monks burned themselves alive and the Main stream media carried those images during Vietnam too.
Used towards promoting more war, not less.

The "something must be done" reaction will be the same today as it was then. Endless war then and even more endless war now.

Because it needs to be seen.

Why?

These people will do this to him. They would do this to you. Not pretend, not playfighting, but for real, and simply because you are not them.

Do you personally need to watch this man die in order to feel outraged?

Is the public really that simple - and that callous?

The majority of the public aren't simple or callous, they are just not paying attention. And for 99% of things, that's fine. It's a big world and there is plenty of things happening that will never impact on them. The people burning witches in Africa aren't really likely to turn up on your doorstep, and the Chinese military are unlikely to start suppressing the Tibetan monks in Bumflichen, New Jersey. Still terrible acts that should be known and deplored, but ones that are happening far, far away in another world entirely.

But this is part of the 1% of things that can impact on everyone. This is the mindset that flew planes into the World Trade Center, that bombed the London Underground, that bombed the Boston Marathon. This is the mindset of the people who are willing and prepared to try and reach out and touch you.

When people start to cry over how the world can be saved with hugs and cuddles, they need to see what kind of people they are sympathising with. If they don't want to see it, fine, not going to force them, but I don't see the value in an opinion held by someone who remains wilfuly ignorant of what they are opining about.

Now this might seem at odds with what I've just said, but... I haven't seen the video. I haven't gone out and searched for it, though I've seen the stills that popped up all over the internet. I don't particularly want to watch it, either, but I will when I come across it. Because I think it needs to be seen.

Reminds me of something I read regarding a harrowing holocaust documentary that was made years ago.

When Bernstein was commissioned to make his documentary, hardly anyone in Britain owned a TV. A visual report of other people’s pain was, and was expected to be, a shock. People did not eat microwaved lasagnes in front of starving babies. They didn’t do their ironing over men who had just lost their limbs. Now we have Ebola with our first glass of wine, Isis with our pasta, and Boko Haram with our cup of tea.

We can’t get enough of other people’s suffering. We binge on it, and then go back for more. It would be nice to think we do this because we care more about other people than we ever have before. The trouble is that quite a lot of evidence seems to show that we care less. Empathy levels, according to extensive American research, and something called the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, seem in recent years to have dropped. About 30% of people, according to a new report from the thinktank Civil Exchange, feel no sense of community in their neighbourhood at all. If you don’t give a monkey’s about the people on your doorstep, what chance is there for Yazidi slaves?

In the past three years almost 200,000 Syrians have been killed. Some have been gassed. Some have been tortured. Many have been tossed into mass graves. Every day people risk their lives to tell their stories. And every night we watch more of them die.

I think it's extremely sad and so very true.

Perfect reply! If we, as a nation, collectively continue to make excuses for 'bad behavior' we should have the guts to watch. This man's life deserves to be remembered and his death honored. Refusing to be outraged and making excuses for inaction after seeing this is far worse IMO than watching the video.

This whole thread is nothing more than an attack on fox news because the op doesn't like fox news.
That film is on myriad other sites, none of those are mentioned.
There are sites that show grusome "snuff films" daily, yet the op has never posted a thread bashing say, liveleak.
Another thinly disguised anti-conservative hate thread.

Does liveleak promote themselves as a news service? Do these other sites you don't name call themselves news services? The op never once mentioned anything about conservatives so why the old if you put down FOX "news" you are putting down conservatives whine?

Besides, people with your extreme point of view that hates anything not bowing at the liberal alter would never watch what Fox shows anyway so why you mad bro?

I don't think that was the point. I believe the point is that Fox didn't previously show ISIS atrocities i.e. beheadings of Americans, but had no qualms about showing a person being burnt alive, and that person being Jordanian. I think it was a sort of dog-whistle racist slant on Fox's part. Why else the sudden hypocricy? American public isn't allowed to see an American killed by ISIS, but they have no problem showing a foreigner. I guess Fox figures it wasn't as gruesome as seeing a U.S. citizen in the same circumstance.

Ok every liberal pay attention:

It wasn't FOX news that made the decision not to show the previous tapes in full. It was decided in the White House, remember the State Department saying people that watched the previous films would be suspect? Remember the administration putting the ban on them?

What a short memory people seem to have.

Come down from your high horses liberals, the person that made all this possible was your own dear leader. Showing this tape had to be done with approval from the White House in light of the previous bans by the White House..

Eat crow all ye donkeys.

Why is this ok? But covering the horrors of our wars and dead bodies of the fallen returning in coffins is not? Snuff film is absolutely the category this belongs in. But then, sex always sells.

Relax Francis, that wasn't aimed at you just hit the wrong reply button.

Am I the only one that remembers the White House asking people not to watch the previous videos? Maybe it wasn't an "official" ban but when the State Dep. says if you watch it you could be considered a terror suspect it adds up to the same thing.

For one one reason or other those warnings weren't issued regarding this video and FOX News didn't make that call.
