Not to, you know, post on topic or anything, but what Pat Robertson is saying is that Christians (and like thinking moralists) have lost the "culture war" and the moral cesspool that the media has created will never be drained. Whether you think that he's an idiot or not, it is difficult to argue the point.

Just as an example, I like to cook, and I like to watch cooking shows. Cooking shows, where you have recipes and techniques taught to you. Pretty mundane stuff. Well, until recently…

Sex:

Drunkenness:

Violence:

Gluttony:

Profanity:
And that's just cooking shows, for pity's sakes.

Yet another example of Cafeteria Christianity picking and choosing sins from the Old Testament to use as modern bigotry.

Those who commit adultery, eat pork or shellfish, or wear mixed fabric clothing should also be equally shunned by Mr. Robertson and those who feel as he does. That doesn't happen due to Cafeteria Christianity being the prevailing religion of the land.

But, that's the point of a story/tv program, right? You can't have a plot without something "bad" in it.

Imagine a movie where there is never any evil/problem and where everything is good and peaceful all the time. A movie/plot/story needs a "challenge", something "bad" happening in order for it to be solved (happy ending) or not (sad ending).


If it is ok for violence to be in movies/tv-problems as part of the story, then why not homosexuality ? If you believe that both are "wrong", then why is one better than the other? If they are both bad, then why watch any movies/tv shows at all?

Why not just watch the Jewelry Network? ....oh wait, that is also bad - it's pride that leads to competition ("my products are better than others).

They are cooking shows, for pete's sakes, there's no plot. You watch the Julia Child clip, and you'll learn how to make French Onion soup. You watch the Gordon Ramsey clip, and you'll learn how to call some poor guy a "French pig" because you don't think he's doing something right.

It is getting unnecessary, was watching Gotham and they have Gordons fiances(Barbara) as a former lesbian who dated some cop chick. Hollywood really likes to cram things down our throats.

Would appreciate if they stop the evil Nazi movies every year.

My husband and I have a game when we watch new TV shows. It's called count the gay characters.

There are almost no new TV shows that don't have a gay character, the show may not be multiracial which is what we really need to see on TV, but you can be certain there will be a gay character. It is practically required for every TV show now to the point of ridiculousness.

It's not that we object to gay characters, it's just so gratutious in TV and movies these days, so gratutious as to be absurd.

When people are offended there is the off button, we just FF the porn that is on most TV shows these days and explicit lesbian scenes which are prevalent.

If we end up FF due to porn, offensive language, excessive violence, more than 1/4 or more of the show, then we don't watch it anymore.

That is our choice, if you think I'm awful, tough, it's my right and choice.

And yes that means there are a lot of shows we don't watch, our choice, our business, a right everyone should exercise, don't like it, don't watch it.

If TV wants to put porn, offensive language, and excessive violence on TV, they deserve to have the shows fail and should not complain if no one wants to watch it.

I think maybe you can see here some of the similarities between the fundamentalist Christians, Dominionists, and The Islamic State. Morality is judged generally by our orientation to all things sexual. It's from or genitiles that all things evil flow. Repression, theft of commons, or the creation of artificial rules that allow some to dominate others, are all ok. Just keep that pee pee covered my friend.
