Televangelist Pat Robertson lamented this week that it would be difficult for Christians to escape media “blasphemy” like homosexuals being depicted in movies until Jesus returned during the End Times.

On Wednesday’s edition of The 700 Club, a viewer complained to Robertson that she was having trouble finding TV shows, movies and books that “do not have street language, sex, or blasphemy.”

“If you don’t see some of these things, you would have to leave the world,” the TV preacher admitted. “The world is saturated with sexual innuendos. I mean, good grief. How many ads for Victoria’s Secret do you have to look at?”

Rev. Pat, let me make a suggestion an not watch what you find offensive. Take some personal responsibility and boycott hollywood, cable, playboy, TV in general and read your Bible. Hollywood isn't forcing you to watch anything.

“But the fact that there are about 200 screenwriters in Hollywood who have the dominance in the media, and they’re doing everything they possibly can to put dirty language and sexual situations, and now homosexuality into scripts over and over and over again.”

Then Christians should write the scrips they want and produce the movies they want to see. Technology has made everybody a filmmaker that wants to be. Please, just quit being such a crybaby!

Pat Robertson is not an example of a true Christian. He's an example of greedy puppets in power to manipulate, divide and profit.

Well there is difficulty trying to dodge Satan's Filth in the media.

It's like it's everywhere the last few decades.

Wild times indeed !!

"hollywood is leading our kids down a moral sewer, gotta go!"
-homer simpson

this ought to be in the rant section?

the tragedy is that one needn't be a "christian" to understand what he's saying is true..

Then Christians should write the scrips they want and produce the movies they want to see.

that's no good either.. (their movies are terrible)
..probably best leave these things in the hands of that little understood jewish clique over there

let us consult the wisdom of jiminy glick..

Pat Robertson is arguably the least Christian of all the advocates for Christianity. He's pretty much a joke to anyone who isn't brain dead.

He does have a point.
Every show seems to have a political agenda.
Everybody is sleeping around.
Snoop dog makes guest appearances on kids shows.
Caty Perrys music is on the school bus.
I guess somebody needs to tell him about the hallmark channel.

God put the channel changing button on the remote for a reason, Pat. Use it.

Dunno about homosexuality, but I'd wish Hollywood would force me to watch more lesbianism.

In a very strange defense of a moron ...

A lot of groups do believe that media impacts how humans perceive things on a massive scale, and they believe large parts of society over time can be altered by changing or controlling that media. This person isn't alone in believing this, and there are certainly pushes to get lots of different demographics on our television screens from various places.

It would be nice to see a big budget socially aware film about Christians navigating this successfully, but the last few outings have included dual wielding matrix angels, a black satan, Kevin Sorbo of Hercules playing a caricature of an atheist, and Greg Kinnear musing over near death experiences written by the writer of Braveheart.

They have the money to do it, they have the audience (I feel), but its what they choose to do with it.

Rev. Pat, I'm far from being "Hollywood" but I am a filmmaker and just to spite your sorry ass; I'm going to make a film with large bare breasted women dancing to rock and roll, smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.

However if you want to produce a film more to your liking...have your people call my people...

Pat Robertson isn't a part of any solution....he is a major part of a bigger problem.
I would rather take advice from a meowing cat than that guy.

My husband and I have a game when we watch new TV shows. It's called count the gay characters.

There are almost no new TV shows that don't have a gay character, the show may not be multiracial which is what we really need to see on TV, but you can be certain there will be a gay character. It is practically required for every TV show now to the point of ridiculousness.

It's not that we object to gay characters, it's just so gratutious in TV and movies these days, so gratutious as to be absurd.

When people are offended there is the off button, we just FF the porn that is on most TV shows these days and explicit lesbian scenes which are prevalent.

If we end up FF due to porn, offensive language, excessive violence, more than 1/4 or more of the show, then we don't watch it anymore.

That is our choice, if you think I'm awful, tough, it's my right and choice.

And yes that means there are a lot of shows we don't watch, our choice, our business, a right everyone should exercise, don't like it, don't watch it.

If TV wants to put porn, offensive language, and excessive violence on TV, they deserve to have the shows fail and should not complain if no one wants to watch it.

..that'd be worth exploring further here
..what MOTIVATES these people to make these types of movies?
and why are they constantly being plastered everywhere
..but you might not like where it all leads to

check out the signature linked topic one day

someone needs to make a topic about the destruction of the male polarity, what we watched in TV sitcoms (etc) for the past few decades..

start with something like Pa' from bonanza (patriach; & the mother was 'absent' from that houshold iirc?)
steady decline "progression" (decline? lol, excuse my little slip of the text there~ 'progression' as it's all about equality & empowerment, remember?) into something like Jed Clampett (beverly hillbillies; note inclusion of 'strong' female influence in old grandma kettle's character etc)
FF into something like Lucille Ball (i love lucy)
FF into something like Al Bundy (patriach is almost completely destroyed at this stage, and cripes, check out that family of theirs)
and finally, arrive at something like MODERN FAMILY (get it?) (and note; completely emasculated patriach by this stage and it's somehow Al Bundy once again)

..i dread what's coming next

but hey, let's all think we're EMPOWERED somehow with this ability to use the OFF switch like that somehow stops all this nonsense from actually happening in real life

I don't think you are awful. That's just the free market solution. If nobody watches the show, it will fail. You exercise your rights by turning off a show you don't like and watching one you do. That's how it should work.
