Yet someone seems to be screaming blue murder over it. What a bunch of uptight bastards they must be.

Disrespect shouldn't be unlawful, though.

Is a little common decency too much to ask from people in public spaces?

There's a photo of me bumming a gargoyle on the top of Notre Dame cathedral - should I be charged with a crime, too?

Don't you get it? It isn't funny. It's stupid and childish.

I think you don't get it. People are allowed to have a bit of fun in this obviously too highly strung world.

What actual harm was done here? What harm did I do in my picture also? None. None whatsoever.

I get it quite well, thanks - it seems some don't.

If that is going to be a crime then a whole lot of the population is guilty. But why not charge this person instead of a bank or corporation ripping of people and taking advantage of them.

Made up crime against a made up religion, nifty...

Nope - I just understand that life is too short to get wound up over silly things like this and I know how to laugh at a joke.

youre right my friend.
people need to loosen up.
nobody was injured. nothing was stolen. nothing was broken...
it wasnt a big deal at all.

it is very clear the only reason these people feel this way is cause it was jesus.

i bet if it were bill nye or neil degrasse tyson statues getting 'desecrated' these same people would not care at all.

for those that dont know nye and tyson or scientists that speak out against creationism in favor of science. they give speeches and have debates.

you really think these religious people would care if it were those statues? of course not

the statue being jesus is the real issue. dont be fooled

What he did was disrespectful but, people do this stuff all the time, and it seems like teenagers would be more likely to do something like this (and not just to a Jesus statue). If it were any other statue, it would just be 'comedy' or 'being silly'; it wouldn't be such a big deal, and that is the hypocrisy.

My life is strange

Finding a tombstone is your house would be odd.
My biography would define the word strange.
So that isn't hard to believe.

Atheists Will Protest Teenager’s Arrest for “Desecration” of Jesus Statue

American Atheists: “Blasphemy is Not a Crime” Posted on: September 25, 2014

Bedford County, PA—On Thursday, three atheist groups—American Atheists, Pennsylvania Nonbelievers, and Truth Wins Out—announced a joint press conference and protest in Bedford County, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 27 at 12:00 PM on 200 South Juliana Street at the steps of the Bedford County Courthouse.

The demonstration is in protest of the September 10 arrest of a 14-year-old child, who will be tried in juvenile court on October 3, for “desecrating” a statue of Jesus after the teen posted pictures of himself simulating a sex act with the statue on his personal Facebook account. The teen did no damage to the statue, and the religious organization that owns the statue does not wish to prosecute. However, a rogue district attorney has chosen to press charges under a questionable interpretation of a Pennsylvania law which bans “desecration” of religious objects, including “physically mistreating [objects] in a way that the actor knows will outrage the sensibilities of persons likely to observe or discover the action.”
