This could never work as we would have to nuke israeli terrorists as well.

Until we adopt an understanding of what we'd have to do to actually "win" anything in the ME, I'd say leave it all alone.

Let them fight each other.

Make a policy statement that if one westerner, or one inch of land anywhere else gets touched or damaged, we drop a nuke.

Many of the cultures in the ME look at diplomacy as weakness.

So stop trying to be "diplomatic".

Quarantine them as stated above.

They step out of line and attack a western country?

boom

Mushroom cloud.

Exactly...

That seems to be where we are at.

So they were right I guess. It's the western world against them.
M.E against the west. Good to know.

Anyone attacks anyone, there should be repercussions.

Or is surrender the only option?

What I would advise, is that you write to your elected representative, and register your opposition to the long standing tactic of paying proxy organisations to screw the governments of nations that the west does not like, to the foreign policy decisions which have for YEARS, made it easier and easier for radical elements to recruit, like drone strikes, and deeply questionable wars.

Tell your friends and family about how these things affect the way the west is seen from the east, help people see from beneath the wool over their eyes, educate people about the things their government is doing, and the reasons that they are doing them, and crucially, how many times they have been done before, for the same reasons, to disastrous effect!

Then, when the next election cycle comes up, vote for an intelligent and well traveled independent candidate who neither has the hallmarks of a foam mouthed xenophobe, nor the obsessive hand wringing idiocy of a global agenda advocate, and recommend the same to your friends, and have them do the same for their friends, and so on and so forth, and then... Then my friend, hope like hell it makes a difference, because at the end of the day, that is all anyone can do to effect this situation.

There are no silver bullets.

Sure, hand me my fiddle.

No but really, we have no business being in the Middle East anymore. Let's let them work out their own problems on their own. Contrary to what we seem to think, they are adults too and can make their own decisions about how they want to live their lives.

And what about the countries that have been attacked already? Attacked by other countries that knew there will be no repercussions. Where is their justice?

If most of the world was not utterly dependent on the oil coming from the Middle East I'm sure it would be left alone. Look at Africa, outside countries rarely militarily intervene there because it's irrelevant.

Invent a magic fuel source to replace oil and we can just wall off the Middle East and let them kill each other until no one is left. Probably would not take long.

The world is overpopulated with extremists.
Let them kill each other off.
I have no problem with that.

The west have the same response to ISIS that the did in the "war on terror" kill the bastards, they are not that big of an entity and stop funding them, would be a good place to start. Oh and stop your elected officials from posing in photos with them and calling them heroes.

I have no problem with stopping all forms of financial aid anywhere.

And if a politician wants to pose next to a bunch of thugs, I say let the bastard STAY there and fight WITH them.

Should I have added the north and south as well?

Apologies for not being specific enough.

Wisdom here.
The problem is there is so much pro war propaganda brainwashing the US.
It is in our EVERYTHING.
If you take a stand against the machine you are viewed as weird and unpatriotic, and the average idiot cannot handle the idea of being unpopular, why do you think social media is such a hit?
Winning hearts and minds comes to mind..
Wonderful idea but the movie "Idiocracy" pressed a very real point, stupid wins out all of the time.

I agree with that but as for your mushroom cloud statement, America whether you like it or not helped create ISIS from all the destabilization it caused in the ME and funded them in Syria. You decimated the Iraqi army when you invaded and then are surprised that they can't fend off these animals, most of the new recruits probably joined up so they can feed their families. America has their fingers in this pie and should be held accountable for some of this. It is a case of clean up your mess.

When was the last time it was not on fire?

when the western world kept their hands off of it

Yah really.

Maybe the West should stop setting it on fire.

At this point, do we really need a history lesson?

How is it not common knowledge that the US has been overthrowing their governments, installing dictators; creating, funding and training radicals; attacking, invading and occupying the ME for decades.

I refuse to believe that the American people can be this stupid. It has to be willful ignorance.

Even this latest situation has been created by the US's trained and armed Al-CIAeda/ISIS "rebels".

WTF?

No no, no problem. You said "west" because that's what was on your mind.
And thank god they don't have nukes, because by your logic America would've nuked more than a dozen times.

Well, they do allegedly have chemical weapons, and according to Vice, it is pretty easy to acquire nuclear weapons on the black market. All those nukes which disappeared after the cold war? Guess where some of them turned up....yep. Not good.
