Lawmakers Who Upheld NSA Phone Spying Received Double the Defense Industry Cash

The numbers tell the story — in votes and dollars. On Wednesday, the house voted 217 to 205 not to rein in the NSA’s phone-spying dragnet. It turns out that those 217 “no” voters received twice as much campaign financing from the defense and intelligence industry as the 205 “yes” voters.

Lawmakers who voted to continue the NSA dragnet-surveillance program averaged $41,635 from the pot, whereas House members who voted to repeal authority averaged $18,765.

Follow the money, and the source tells the story. Time for big time change. At least we now know of 217 corrupt crooks with special interests who are not representing the people.

So what is the sane, legal, systematic way to purge all of that out of the system, and to do so within the next 5-10 years before it's too late?

That's the ultimate question.

On the other hand, if nothing is done about, it will lead to such a rapid downward spiral, none of us will even be able to post on ATS anymore, just like they're doing in UK with the Porn Filtering system, which coincidentally, is also supposed to filter out all message boards and forums to block all public opinion.

The Crazy Nanny state that's taking shape there, is just a matter of time before it takes shape here.

The population in this nation and the tax payer can not get into their thick heads that is not going to be any changes within our political parties that will help this nation citizens at all.

Politics are for the rich and wealthy and they are the ones running the nation for decades at the expenses of the working class.

I am not surprised. It is now a government for the big corporations by the big corporations. This is not just ridiculous, it is dangerous.

With corporations in charge, think about this - they don't have to listen to their customers, they can make laws forcing their customers to buy their products -

This means the new moral compass on laws is how much money they leech from the population in order to pay the corporations, and those laws will be enforced with vigor.

The more hellfire missiles launched from drones to kill American Citizens, the more hellfire missiles get manufactured.

Theres a few Yes voters that were in the top 30 who received over $100,000 that we should recognize. Bet they wont get that much money next time they run. These included:

Hats off to these guys who were willing to risk losing big money and potentially the next election to stand up for the constitution!

Another striking thing about that chart is that no representatives received any money from groups that supported the amendment.

House members who voted to continue the massive phone-call-metadata spy program, on average, raked in 122 percent more money from defense contractors than those who voted to dismantle it.

Pretty telling. Thats the way it is in Amerika. Also from the article:

“How can we trust legislators to vote in the public interest when they are dependent on industry campaign funding to get elected? Our broken money and politics system forces lawmakers into a conflict of interest between lawmakers’ voters and their donors,” said Daniel G. Newman, MapLight’s president and co-founder.

Seeing this makes me so happy. Was attempting to do this on a thread here the night of the Amash vote but tuckered out after I hit the E's. Saw enough to know that there was some definite issues though. Biggest contributions were to those in the appropriations committee, specifically the subcommittees for Defense and Homeland Security. Was feeling pretty guilty that I hadn't picked it up again but having some eye problems. The guys that did this one were able to get much further and had better access to the information.

Kingston really impressed me out of all those committee members. Actually ended the evening watching his a couple of his vids on youtube. Interesting guy.
