Another massive bee die off, this time in California.
The results are in, and here again, pesticides are implicated in this
750,000k bee kill.

I know, sorry guys and gals to post another one of these threads,
yet I an concerned that this is ignored by the majority of news outlets!

“It was devastating to see the number of dead bees outside the hive, and watch those in their death throes, twitching and stumbling around in front of the hive, unable to fly,” Kappel added. Over the next few weeks she watched as her hive went from a healthy population of almost 70,000 bees to being completely empty in less than a month with dead bodies scattered everywhere.www.independent.com...

A total of 16 formerly healthy hives, with an average population of 30-60,000 bees each were lost. SBBA estimates approximately 750,000 bees lost their lives, all within a 1.5-mile radius. The Association submitted four test samples to Penn State University for a comprehensive pesticide screening and just received the reports back from the USDA labs.

As SBBA leaders suspected, there were several commonly used pesticides found in bee food stores, brood cells and wax. www.edhat.com...

At the rate we're going, we'll kill ourselves off before the zombie apocalypse even gets here!

Killing MORE bees??

Has the world gone insane?

I still have to wonder if Monsanto is behind this. Weren't they trying to genetically engineer a species of bee that only pollinates their crappy seedless GMO crops? It would be in their best interest to reduce the regular bee population. They are truly the most evil company in the world.

I just read someplace in Florida millions of bees were found dead.

I remember a couple of years ago when bees started dying and someone found the answer.. I think it was related to GMO foods crops.. either that or pesticides.. cant remember but I'll try to find it.

Hey Beez, it is just insane.

Dont they get it, its the pesticides!

This is going to have a harsh bite soon, the implicatoin for the food supply
cant be ignored. I am still waiting for the headlines about shortages from the
bee extinctions, I think they are coming soon.

Yes, that is true, however that article was from 2011. Its still very important,
yet you have to watch to make sure they dont use a misleading title,
such as " no one knows why". They do know why, its nearly conclusive!

They probably think this is a better alternative.

Robobees

ETA; Imagine them programming these JUST to pollinate GMO crops!

Yes, and yes! They are working on a bee that they can make resistant to
they pesticides, there is very little information available, they are keeping it all hush hush.

Probably, would not suprise me in the least. I can just see the headlines now:

Farmer sued over free Robo bee pollination

Good thing it was a 1.5 mile radius. With bees foraging over 10 miles away, pesticide contamination could be introduced to neighboring hives.

Ugh. When will people learn?

Yes, and here I really applaud the City as they followed through with the studies,
and then publshed them. Maybe if enough local cities and counties bring on the heat,
they can get a ban in place on some of these pesticides?

What is it going to take otherwise?

I don't believe this for a second. After living in Santa Barbara for years I know they take good care of the area. Monticeto is mosty privately owned ranches and open mountains near the beach. Calling bs on this one.

Why do you care if the bees die?

Its sad I guess because they are cute but not the end of the world. They are just an insect.

I think part of the problem is large scale breeding of bees with little diversity in the gene pool and therefore less resistance to any problems that wild bees can deal with more easily. The colonies used in large scale farming are a prime example.

Oh, and Monsato suck too.

PLEASE READ AND DO SOME RESEARCH.

If there are no bees, not enough plants get pollinated. If plants can't reproduce there is no food. If there is no food we die. All of us.

Well that's really odd isn't it. Considering the fact that honey bees are not indigenous to North America and were not introduced until the 17th century by the British I wonder how in the world any plants got pollinated before that.

Boy there is a conspiracy you should figure out.

lol

Very sad, and sadder day coming when people do realize,
by way of food shortages.
