South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius is being questioned over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria, local media say.

The Bladerunner has thought to have mistaken his girlfreind for an intruder and shot her dead in SA.
Poor girl and If it was an mistake poor dude .

Yes, I just literally turned to Sky News and was shocked to see this breaking news (was about to post it too).

This is horrible, very horrible. What a devastating situation.

I hope it all goes well after this - but we'll have to wait to confirm the facts...

This is too bad.

Now there needs to be a worldwide ban on guns. Conspiracy?

In my personal opinion I believe it wasn't an accident.

Yes,the poor parents+loved ones of the girl too,i posted in the other thread,and was so aghast for him,having to live with such a horrible tragedy,i momentarily forgot about the impact this will have on Her family.Pardon me,but i never pity the ones passed on,as i dont believe pity is due to them so much,because they are not in pain or dire circumstances anymore,like we still here.To the heartbroken+grieving loved ones left,my heart goes out to them,especially the parents.

I would say in this case it propably Was a tragic case of him mistaking her for a burglar-in my country,such tragedies happened before.Its because our country has a very high crime rate,and there's a sector of the population that know full well they are the chief target of crimes that end up fatal for the victim.Well-known fact.

I dont know how to post a link,but i went to the local news24 site,and police spokesperson Sarah Mcira confirmed that he mistook her for a burglar.This is surely the darkest day of his life-please will all who read this,offer up a prayer to whatever Higher Power you pray to,for this poor young man,and the family of his late girlfriend?

Just heard on the local news here he had been arrested...

The white population,would be that sector,unfortunately when one says it like that,it Always comes across as racialistic whining.Therefore,you or anyone who doubt me,will have to do your own research,and see for yourself.I wish it was different,believe me.I personally have never been hurt physically by a black person(except having my bag snatched once,which happens every day anywhere in the world)but there's thousands upon thousands who cannot say the same.

Of course,other races suffer burglaries,home invasions,car hijackings,rape as well,but in the case of white victims,they are the ones who usually don't survive.Then there's the slowmotion genocide of the white farmers too,well documented already.

According to the results of the 2011 census:8.9% white pop or 4,586 836,much the same as the colored population.Indian/Asian make up 2.5% apparently,and black population at 79.2%.

Just read he is to goto court charged with her murder....
The police say it is not the first time they have been at the home due to domestic violence and the police are now saying the "burgler" quote did not come from them.

Thanks for the update.Wow,this is news to me-never heard Anything negative about Oscar before.Well,it is possible that while there has been domestic violence,he really did on this occasion believe his girlfriend to be an intruder.I hope so-he's been a real posterchild for playing the cards you were dealt,and playing them world-class,no matter how shoddy they were.An admirable guy.This is a nasty surprise,but lets first see what transpires during the court case.I find it hard to believe he would throw away his good life and future,by committing cold-blooded murder.Either way,this is a tragedy.

Learnt a little more, there are witnesses to the shooting, Oscar asked to be charged in court and bail has been denied.

Either way, not good news for The Blade Runner.

Despite his physical impairments, he was never known to be a poster child. He had many run-ins with all sorts of folks and the reported domestic issues w. his girlfriend. So, while this shooting is a shocker, I am not entirely surprised in this instance.

R.I.P. Reeva Steenkamp.

Rather odd Valantines day story, haven't had time to fully digest it yet (yuch?) Ms SteenKamp was a law student as well as a physically attractive model so maybe there is more to the story than meets the eye?

I would also add that Police are opposed to bail being grnated, he has a history of violence towards women and his neighbours have stated to journalists (today) that they heard loud shouting and arguing throughout the night.

Certainly puts a different light on the "girlfriend wanting to surprise him" angle that was originally being pushed.

With such polar opposite opinions being touted, i am refusing to make any judgements until further evidence comes out.
