Okay, I'm gonna bite again. Clearly people here commenting on Occupy have no idea.

I was following occupy on their live streams, every day through September and October last year, and on and off since. I saw, with my very own eyes, Occupy outing agents, identifying Republican propagandists, pushing out planted individuals and easily dispelling the BS put out there by people trying to taint them.

Anon is deeply involved in the Occupy movement too, gathering and publishing data on corrupt cops, crashing and hacking sites, and forcing people in power to take action where possible through direct threat and pressure.

And yet you seem to think they're just a bunch of kids who don't get it?

It might simply be personal ego boosting for you to believe that you know something they don't, but I can guarantee you are wrong. These kids are using VPN, encryption, hacking, DDoS, Doxing, intel, and every other method you can imagine.

I know this through direct discussions in chat with protest organizers, which any one of you can do if you actually bother to do anything other than swallow what is fed to you. There have been numerous live streams running 24 hours a day, with representatives from Occupy explaining that they have been infiltrated, how they have removed them, how they communicate through more secure means when they need to. This is all public knowledge, they've openly discussed it and they absolutely aware of how they are monitored and how agencies try to shut them down.

When communications from the Plaza were suddenly being interrupted, they jumped on a local wi-fi with a local businesses permission, knowing the NYPD or DHS were trying to stop them from broadcasting.

Please get off your high and mighty podium. You are dismissing a powerful movement as a bunch of kids, and you have no idea how talented, knowledgeable and effective they are. After all, they managed to mobilize a movement around the world, with total media blackout, under the radar, with no financial backing - something the Tea Party couldn't even get close to with millions of $ and Fox at the end of a phone.

I didn't mean for this to turn into an Occupy cheer leading post, but seeing people minimizing what those talented people are doing and what they are capable of doing is highly insulting, especially from people who presumably do nothing more socially motivated than preaching their "almighty knowledge" on a conspiracy forum.

I was heavily involved in the Occupy movement in the beginning. At that time it was a bit chaotic. There were socialists, Paul supporters, and Obamites. Then Moveon and the other democratic organizations got involved. Now I refuse to identify with any party. There are democrat, republican, and libertarian ideals that I support. But, when moveon came in there was a power struggle to keep them out. I think that the leadership has been co-opted now, atleast to some extent.
Still, that has not ended the threat of Occupy because the average protester tends to be like myself; they'll call any party out for misdeeds. They aren't shills to any corrupt party. So the government wants this movement squashed just like AIM back in the '70's. And just like AIM they'll infiltrate, disrupt, and portray them as terrorists. A false flag operation against them in Chicago would not surprise me.

Let me clarifly. No, I dont think Occupy is just a bunch of kids.
However, the movement does have a lot of young people.
And they are being led, and played right into these Banksta's plans.

No one is ever going to succeed in getting rid of the banks,

They are being monitered too, yet you must remember that Anon has

I don't understand... Why are these dumb meetings really needed?

They cost govt' tax money as it is, and then there is the added fact that once people realize there is this sort of meeting- they will rebel, thus leaving the government to waste god knows how much on paying police to guard every corner surrounding the summit, many of whom will most likely make over time. Then we add in the cost of running heli's and hiring on extra security.

But, hell we're in a recession right?

After witnessing G20 Toronto live in the flesh, I can say- this chaos is no accident- its prepping us for a new norm...

Fox news is a terribly evil status quo agenda pushing machine IMO...However, Occupy gives all the examples in the world as to how they aren't a pro Obama politically driven group and then you go ahead and say a thing like that, tea party included! This is why I don't take Occupy seriously. I can hear Occupiers say how anti-politically driven they are all day, but it doesn't make it true. It's going to take quite a bit more to convince many people otherwise.

Great post! I'm in the same boat for history and experience with all this and about the same boat for my take and opinion on it now. My differences aren't important enough to mention in agreement with your sentiment. I also agree entirely with your last point. As detachedindividual said at the top of the page as well, I could agree more with you both.

In my experience and meaning nothing negative in saying it for this context, Occupy has always had two primary types of people. The hard core and chronic street and homeless population....and the hard core deeply committed of the protest movement(s). Many movements by what I saw when I was with it. Anti-War... Communists... Conservatives like me...a wide variety among the normal people. Heck, our head of Safety was a war vet and his primary assistant on that committee was a retired Deputy Sheriff. Occupy does have all kinds from all backgrounds.....even if they have taken turns and gone in directions I sure can't support personally.

All you guys can do is argue about politics. Here's the problem: THE RED CROSS IS A DISASTER RELIEF ORGANISATION. Please, digest that for a moment. You don't call them unless you anticipate a disaster. I don't think it has a thing to do with Occupy.
