ok, another person has tweeted a large star appeared and is flickering and changing color, if you look south of Glasgow. "THINK" I can see it, cant get a good picture tho. Its right over houses and behind a tree.

If anyone posts a pic will you post it here? Thanks!

This is my first post here, but i saw this tonight and it was amazing!!!
There where loads of flashing lights going on in the sky, atleast 20 east.
Damn didnt have my phone on me at the time else i would have video'd it.

Satellites?!

I wanted to believe they where planes because what we were witnessing freaked me outa little.
I mean stacking planes is one thing but not that many in close proximity of each other. It looked emense what ever it/they was/were.The flashing was similar to a plane.

Btw it was going on for ages, dont know about now tho.

Different colours, mostly red/white.. can't be exact. As i said, not too disimlar to a planes, apart from the fact they seemed very far away with no trailing lights like you'd probaly see from a plane.Weird.

Here's a vid my son took with his mobile phone looking through binoculars tonight. It's a bit shakey, but at least you can see the 'objest' quite clearly.
It's directly to the left of the moon in a due south direction (UK)
If you go outside to look it is clearly visible to the naked eye. To he right of it there are 3 stars in a straight line...Orions belt? Directly above them there is another 'thing' like the one my son took vid of but not as clear

As StealthyKat hinted, it probably is Sirius. Just to the left of Orions belt is where you would expect to find Sirius.

"Flashing different colours" or scintillation is quite common with bright stars that are low on the horizon, and Sirius ticks both these boxes.

Here's a thread I made on the subject a few months back if anyone is interested in learning more about it.
