Because that is the only way we will come together.

The U.N. has limited power and has done a poor job. We need a one world government where laws would apply to every citizen of the world, and where a person living in Canada has the same rights as a mother living in the poorest country in Africa.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that we should have children starving to death because they cannot get even one meal a day, and then in another country we have billionaires just amassing wealth.

It just amazes me how there are a lot of people that are afraid of change. we do not need to isolate ourselves from each other. We need to come together as one. We need radical change. We do not need 200+ countries not agreeing with each other and going to war for stupid reasons. What we need is a global form of government, where the power will not go to a single person. But where the power will be divided and every corner of the world will have an opinion.

We need big change and we need it fast, our current system has failed for too long. So far the only things that it has given us are wars, inequality, and famine.

When someone brings up the term "One World Government" most people go into a defensive state of mind because that's what they have been conditioned to think.

Don't you get it? You think that you know what TPTB want..you probably think that they want us to bring us all together and to put us under their rule. But to me that makes little sense.

Think about it, if they unite us under their "new world order" thing then that will give most of the population an "us against them" mentality where the probability of an uprising would be high.

But if they keep us separated by promoting inequality, and by keeping the current system then we would be falling in their trap. I mean we already have the TSA, everyday it seems we are at bring of war with some country. Israel seems like it wants to attack iran almost every week etc..

We need to bring about this change as soon as possible before it's too late.

I agree, but only after the imbalance between the poor and rich is leveled. We have to become more socialist and increase what is considered basic human rights to include education and make all governments follow this.

One World is All we have. If every man woman and child were actively involved and represented in all decisions, both local and global, we could conceivably have a very good system.

One World Government is a loaded term, like 'liberal' or 'Pagan'.

Kneejerk reactions are common, especially when you are trained to react in that way.

When you knock down the divisions between Us, you knock a huge whole in the profit margin of those who sell fences. Fence makers will make up things to protect their business.

Either way, it IS upon us.

One world, one world government.

Now, do You want to get involved or keep belly aching from the peanut gallery?

So your solution is to force everyone to be united.

Not going to work in the slightest. Humankind will likely never be united on any front, ever, and we just need to accept that we will likely wipe ourselves out. It happens, it the progression of species.

Wrong. They will unite if there is a massive threat to all of us...proven scientifically.

everyone would need to be a part of it, for it to work. technocratic demarchy.

a government lottery of the smartest and brightest in their respective fields, given the type of power the people who currently control it wield, and we'd be well on our way.

I agreed completely. I agree with the OP. If it's for control or as a means to make more wealth by a few...forget it! But humanity does need one set of rules commonly across the planet...rules that are allowed to evolve and better humanity when it's determined to have failed the majority. Also humans themselves have to try and better themselves individually through education...ignorance it no longer tolerant if we need to find solutions together.

Most intelligent business men know that the root cause of their wealth is the large gap between themselves that have knowledge and those that are ignorant and don't know. Most professional associations operate completely on this principle so they're members make more money. They can't conceive of a world, and how it would operate, where everyone has equal skills and knowledge...it means they'd have to cooperate and their profits shared.

Muse7, you are on the right track. Don't let the nattering nabobs of negativity get you down!

There are lot of negative, fearful reactions to your thread. These voices are fearful because they have not been told exactly how the one world government will be instituted - by gun or by vote or by treaty???

Many of the negative reactions in this thread show a resistance to your idea because they cannot imagine a better path for the future. All they can imagine are wars and conflicts based on an incomplete definition of what it means to be a human being.

If there was a gigantic alien mothership parked in Earth orbit we would actually see all of the nations of the world coming together immediately as a unified front. It may take such an external threat to unify the human race into a cooperative planetary government.

There must be this distinction --- what is being proposed, a one world government --- better than what we have now but still not perfect. If, for the sake of discussion, you would refer to this as a Planetary Resource Council, or a Matrix form of government, open and transparent, perhaps more people would be interested in the idea.

The future is almost here and I do not see any reason to be fearful of it.

I don't think anyone has a specific problem with unity, working together to make a better society, etc. It's the logistics and differing opinions involved.

One world government is far too prone to corruption; too many differing opinions on how to properly fix our problems, far too easy to abuse powers, far too easy for a police state to form uncontested, far too easy for the OWG to favour business friends at the expense of general society, etc.

It's too complicated and prone to abuse to ever properly function.

First of all, the term One World Government gives people the creeps, that is why I would like to rephrase it as, a Globally Centralized Governance (GCG). There we go that's better.
Now with a new term, people can think of it's meaning without a biased interpretation. I think what the OP and I would want to see happen is much like what our founding fathers had in mind for this nation. States following a federal fundamental code of rules while having their own set of rules found appropriate by the state's leaders. Have we ever had a state declare war on another state? So why wouldn't it be good to practice this on a global scale? Yeah, there would probably be some cons, maybe quite an amount. But think of the Pros! The number one fear on people's minds these days are the conflicts that are happening on foreign nation's borders. Don't you think the mediation of a GCG would dull this down a bit? Think of all the famine, poverty, and inequality in the world. Wouldn't a little intervention from a GCG be nice? IMO, it would.

Life expectancy for the world over is going up, not down. Genocides are actually being reduced.

The world is slowly uniting under one roof, but it'll never be a perfect unity.

It all depends on our technological ability to travel and communicate fast and cheaply. Even when we manage to do this on our planet, we'll probably be unable to do it on more than one or two. So this means that different planets will act like different governments. Perhaps when we develop even better technology then our whole solar system will have a government. But there're always limits to what we can manage.

I think Rome fell because it stretched out beyond its means. And the people were conflicted.

It all can be simplified down to the technology and knowledge available. If you cannot effectively manage the people then you cannot govern. And if the people aren't with you then it's doomed to fail.

Earth is close to reaching its limits (on the surface anyway). It'll literally be our home. Explorers then will leave for other planets and places. And we'll stretch ourselves to govern them. It's like the explorers that left for the new world and found that their mother country was no longer a friend. A vast sea and land separated them and was a big reason they broke off and became their own nation.

And even when earth is like a country, there'll still be some disunity. We will never achieve perfection because nature itself cannot be perfectly tamed. Chaos is always underneath the surface.

I think many do agree that a unified world is neccessary, but it must be one the people control. When people hear the terms like "new world order" or "one world government" the first thing that comes to the minds of most is the shadows behind the scenes pulling strings for their own agendas. We need a system that the citizens control, not the one being mechanically snuck in on us now where the politician are puppets for a select few that want to exploit our resources for their own gain.

I do whole heartedly believe allowing them to institue their own devious system, and then hoping we can uprise and change things after the fact is a very wrong way to go about it. This is of course assuming their control over us is limited enough for us to even be able to rise up after the fact.

The more intellectual and less dangerous route is to institue a system by the people for the people before these select few can take control.

Most people can't even name a member of the united nations outside the one representing their own country. Do you really trust giving total control over to complete strangers, many of which may not even be truely "elected", and all of which are having their pockets lined by those with their own agendas?

By giving them control of our world we would have effectively brought upon our own endgame.

OP, it is difficult to argue against this. What can be argued is the method of implementation as a single world Gov. would happen on its own over the next thousand years naturally (probably less). It would appear though that "they" are hell bent on forcing the issue and bringing order out of chaos.

I truly feel that they believe the only way to peace and prosperity can be achieved is by force and control followed by indoctrination of the youth into believing it is normal.

I'm sorry but...
It will never happen.
It is impossible.
You are asking more than 7 different religions that most of the time hate eachother.
Muslims hate Christians, Christians hate Jews. It goes on.
It is not only religion that goes against your statement.

This government would not be about giving more power and control to a few persons.

This would be about giving everyone on Earth the same rights, and giving every person an opportunity to succeed. No billionaires but also no starving children. The people would run this government. Every major law passed would depend on a vote by the people not by elected officials. This would be more like a global forum, where every region of the globe would be represented and where issues facing HUMANITY as a WHOLE would be discussed. The elected officials would only be there to discuss and bring up issues, and propose laws which would go to the people for a vote.

I also believe that giving power to a single person would be a very bad thing, so that's why I said there would be no president.

I think humanity would greatly benefit from a having a common set of rights that would give us all an opportunity to succeed, There would be no government in North Korea keeping their people starving because of their pursuit of Nuclear weapons, there would be no government in Syria killing its own citizens.

The number of representatives a country gets to send would depend on the size of its population, we cannot have religion involved in politics. Each person would still be allowed to practice their own religion, but religion would not be involved in this government. The separation of church and government would be important.

The whole idea of a larger population getting to have more say doesn't even work in the US. What makes you think it will work on a global scale?

Ummmm.....This answer is a no brainer..... NO WE DON'T!!!
We actually need less....
One world government, what a joke, single small governments can't even do anything right, what makes you think a larger world govt can????????????

I agree with the OP

And in saying this, I believe that as humans, we are all one. We all have the same DNA, the same deep desires, the same goals. However, we are separated merely by illusion. Separated by nationality, race, sexual orientation, skin color, gender, political party etc

TPTB want these boundaries so that we will war on each other. So we do not progress!

Think about it, if we didn't have to focus on fighting OURSELVES then what would that leave us?

No more funding for war machines, or guns, nuclear weapons, which is where the highest percentage of our money goes, whether the government wishes to admit that to you or not.

Then all the money could go to those less fortunate, the sick, the starving, funding for disease cures, funding for under the sea travel, funding for space travel, funding to re-locate the human race! We could all achieve perfection, I believe....

Once we let go of the illusion of separation, our possibilities become limitless. Doesn't anyone see that?

Underneath all of these false separations, we are ONE. We all like to have sex, have a smoke, drink a beer, have fun, we all like to watch TV, and be lazy sometimes, we all like to boast, to accomplish things, to argue, to love and to feel love because we are all human in the end.

And in the end, death consumes us all, it is the great equalizer.

Just my opinion though

I am dead against an one world government with the kind of influences present in our world today. Corruption, Police State, Genocide, etc, is way too prevalent in most countries around the world.

However the idea of a benevolent unified world society is definitely something I would love to see. But its currently an Utopia.

I don't think it will work with money.. Money will always aspire to power and greed in the eyes of most people.

Before this idea would work we would need to eradicate poverty and hunger completely and make sure that the lowest denominator would have abundance..

Respect and protection of personal freedom and liberty would have to be the center pillar of the society, preventing any criminals from succeeding to undermine it or establish legal base for enslaving humanity again.

With free energy it wouldn't take long for humanity to completely substitute up to 90 percent of the worlds work force with robots/hybrids.. Instead of going to work then, people would automatically get the possibility to achieve more wealth by choosing to work on the many new spiritual projects to help propel the world forward.

So one who before were assembling cars, now would join a mass meditation for 2 hours a day to help raise the worlds magnetic level or to send love to certain areas of the planet etc.

People who has particular skills or talents, like musicians or artists etc, would pursue those talents and enrich and inspire the world with their music and art..

Since healthy food is in abundance and the same with resources, one would just get food and many materialistic things for free..

Anyway.. I could mention one hundred more thoughts on this, but my point is just that it sounds great but humanity would need a consciousness shift for it to have a chance..

So i agree with you on the first part, but "we just need to accept that we will likely wipe ourselves out." uhh no, nobody should accept that. Some people go out there everyday and try to change this decline we are on. I'd hope you'd strive for that too.
