Just think, while he killed millions of his people and made many millions more suffer, at least nobody in North Korea was killed because they didn't believe in a certain religion like has happened over the centuries with mostly Christians doing the killing and now in the last decade, a minority of Muslim extremists.

OK...I'm a little late in this thread to start educating everybody but I could get here no sooner.

Nothing will happen...the status qou remains. China, South Korea, Japan, and most importantly the NK military needs everything to carry on as is. The people of NK need a leader and "The Great Successor" will fill that role. The Great Successor may be young but he's probably smart eenough to realize the military needs him...and in fact he probably realizes that they actually need each other. After years of being told the Kim Sung Il and Kim Jong Il and were gods, the population would never let NK military would never get away with running things on their own if the NK military were to try and tuck this guy away. So along comes the Great Successor to fill the god like void that's left from Kim Jong Il. The NK military needs this guy. If you look at it realistically...the only ones that don't need this guy around is the US simply because NK has been a total thorn in our side since the Soviet Union fell.

So everybody needs to stop speculating. The status qou remains unless we get a ballsy enough president that has finally had enough of the North Korean blackmail and shennigans we've all witnessed over the years. Oh how I wish GW was still around. We'd be turning that place into glass right about now.

We all know that the stock markets run on speculation more than anything else. We know that Kim is dead, there's not much speculating in the fact that is youngest son is taking over, so what is there to speculate that could effect the markets?

How "westernized" is he, and what is his military stance? I think those are the questions everyone needs to ask. He has a Swiss education and he LOVES the NBA. I think it's safe to say that he see's the world through a diiferent pair of glasses than his old man. Younger generations always do that anyway though.

The fact though that S. Korea and Japan are on high military alert............I don't like that. It takes a lot to rattle Japans cage.

I think the Nikkai (sp?) is going to fluctuate a lot more than the Dow. Just my opinion.

If he wants to stay leader he will need to wear the same glasses as his old man. If he doesn't...the military will find another Kim that will and the Great Successor will probably die in some created NK provacation with South Korea...without the Great Successor even being there.

is it a coincidence that Gaddafi died on the 19th of October, and Kim Jong il on the 20th December? pretty much 2 months to the day of each others death, both were 69 years old.
