Dobson: U.S. in 'trouble with God’ if Obama reelected [video]

In video released Tuesday morning from a secret religious right-wing event titled “One Nation Under God,” Focus on the Family founder James Dobson warned Americans that if they don’t vote right-wing in 2012, they’ll be in “serious trouble” with God.

“I am most concerned about the dift away from Christian principles,” Dobson said at the media embargoed event held in late October. “Are we going to continue to honor God with the holy living that he continues to prescribe to us? If we don’t, we are in serious trouble. And right now, I think we are.”

The controversial evangelist added: “I happen to see this particular election cycle as absolutely critical. We’re going to find out pretty quick which direction we’re going. And if it’s going to be as it was in the past, I hate to say it, but we deserve what’s coming to us.”

How does James Dobson know this. I think we can all agree that he doesn't, and is just making trying to make political capital for the GOP. The evangelicals are already in the GOPs pocket but imo this type of goofy rhetoric scares moderates and independents away form the ultra right.

More and more is seems like the right wing is resorting to threats over the 2012 Election. You see it with supporters of St. Ron Paul - "You'll be sorry if you don't elect Ron Paul!" to paraphrase, and now "Vote GOP or else God will be angry!"

This to me is a clear signal the right wing knows it has no viable candidates to run against President Obama...

(To be honest? Part of me kind of hopes I get to see some of these trolls try to make good on these threats after President Obama is re-elected)

Personally as a minister:

I don't think we ordained of the Kingdom of God should have a say in politics, as that gets us looking for power not serving as we should be.

Oh, but I suppose Mr. Dobson is OK with the US military continuing to kill civilians world-wide, the fact that right-wing politicians are also corrupt and bought by big business, and the like.

For once, instead of just paying lip service to christian principles, I'd like some of these people to actually kick out candidates who don't seem to realize that some of the primary founding christian principles are PEACE and FEARLESSNESS. Don't use your terror over bogeymen (sorry - "terrorists") to send your military around the world ruining countries and killing innocents. Don't use your terror over the thought the someone might use a substance you don't like to enable a police state that tramples all over liberty (including CHRISTIAN liberty) and ruins lives all while wasting money, to no other effect. Don't use your terror over ANYTHING to enable an abusive system on any level.

Also, some of these "christian" teachers would do well to recognize that the US constitution is the supreme law of this land, so when they spout off about Romans 13 saying we should support everything the government does, they're condoning disobedience to the RIGHTFUL appointed ruler and telling us to be complicit with a Babylon abusing its charges.

Why do we need to elect either a group or a person to run our countries? It'd be easier to find a hand full of hard working people who are not corrupt or even if they try to go corrupt the other hand full could boot him out and replace him.

Would be easier than relying on 1 person imo

God is actually a person that lives on this planet and sits at the very top of the pyramid controlling TPTB, and he doesn't like what Obama said about Israeli PM Netanyahoo. I've met Dobson face to face at Christian psych conventions.

He's the real deal.

i.e. he has very high standards and consistently kept them the whole of his career.

He also retired at a fitting time and surrendered the whole organization to others.

Certainly he hasn't been any more perfect than any other mortal. Nevertheless, I'd have no hesitation trusting my life to him in any number of scenarios.

Thanks for your kind exhortation.

I doubt many have been more abused by Christian leaders than I have.

Dobson himself looked at me once very harshly.

I don't expect Christian leaders to be greatly more perfect than I am.

Deliberate deception, corruption etc. is different and to be firmly dealt with.

Christianity is not about individuals being perfect--certainly not impossibly in their own strength.

It is about choosing to walk in Christ's Blood covering for our sins in thought, word and action and to cooperate with

HIM as HE conforms us increasingly to His image in and through us.

The same kind of rhetoric was spouted in 2008, they were screaming to the top of their lungs that if Obama was elected this country would turn into a socialist/communist/fascist state. It didn't happen, the world didn't end, and Obama released his long form birth certificate.

So, back to the drawing board to tell the idiots out there that if they don't elect a conservative, that God will smite them.
