IMO they should seize the company, divide the stocks up between all Americans and then give them the bailout.

By now we are all part owners.

If the bailout didn't work the first time, what makes them think it is going to work now?

I say, let them fail, they are failures. Stop giving money to failures.

I assume you mean the president when you say "one". That's why I blamed Bush. He signed the bill.

Also, you do know that even if the President vetoes the bill it can still be sent back to congress and passed? Checks and balances..........

Nope! Let them swallow the loss. Enough of throwing money away! They are just going to have to do what other companies do to get out of the red. Lay off some employees, close down facilities, cut their budgets, and on and on. This should have took place when the government took them over, and before the billions were shelled out.

This soup sandwich should have gone out of business back in 2008, but the the benevolent politicians decided for all of us it was better to throw money at the problem. So the first bailout may have stemmed the tide for about three years, but the inevitable awaits. People are still getting thrown out of their houses, and employment remains dismal for many.

Now Freddie Mac is asking for more money, and once again the taxpayer is here to subsidize the losses of companies? As they say in the North Woods, "Don't feed the bears. If you do, they will keep coming back for more." That seems to be the case with the companies that were bailed out? Stop beating a dead horse! Let the market sort this stuff out, and the strongest will survive. All I have to say is that government intervention may have temporarily staved off economic chaos, but the the doom and gloom is still on the horizon. This is a big crap sandwich and everyone is going to have to take a bite.

In one post you blame them "all",the next you blame Bush. Lets get consistent Sheep..........

Second,Is Bush the President now? No. I blame whoever is in charge,as I blamed Bush when these bailouts were started. I blame Obama for following bad polices, and continuing to destroy this country. I blame those who voted for Obama, and I blame America for putting this guy in office .Hope and Change that it could get worse, right? And Congress?

well............

The rich in Congress have continued to get richer, according to a new analysis of lawmakers’ net worth by Roll Call. Three years ago, the collective net worth all representatives and senators was $1.65 billion. By 2010, this amount had increased to more than $2 billion, representing nearly a 25% bump. Roll Call also determined that almost 90% of the increase was enjoyed by the richest 50 members of Congress, who account for 80% of the total net worth even though there are 535 voting members of Congress. Within the Senate, Democrats (the majority party) possess about 80% of the wealth. Meanwhile, House Republicans, who control the chamber, command 78% of the riches. The numbers are skewed by the wealth of one Congressman, Michael McCaul (R-Texas), who is worth at least $294 million. Still, the median net worth for members of Congress, $513,000, is four times that of the median American household. The wealth totals are, if anything, on the low side because they “vastly underestimate the actual net worth of Members of Congress because they are based on an accounting system that does not include homes and other non-income-generating property, which is likely to tally hundreds of millions of uncounted dollars,” according to the political magazine.

Members of Congress Increased Personal Wealth 25% in Two Years

The banker bailout is one of the biggest things that the occupy protesters are upset about. Why do you think one of the most common chants is "Banks got bailed out, we got sold out"?They're very awake and aware of the bailouts, and are very upset about them. I think it's you that needs to wake up.

Banks got bailed out, we got sold out.... excellent
Now they should go to India and China and yell outsourcing is increasing, "american homeowners are depleting"

I mean you protest at the location of the symptoms of the problem right?
Not at the source

As i've always said, they should be protesting at the offices of every elected official instead of corporations or even worse.... rich people!

Absolutely SPOT ON!!!

Yeah,I know why they wont protest DC.......Partisan Liberal agenda.

Protesters occupied Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's office on Thursday, a notably partisan move that aligns the protesters more closely with congressional Democrats who say McConnell is a key roadblock to action on economic legislation President Obama has proposed.

The sucky thing is that Freddie and Fannie are a huge mechanism from which Wall Street can suck money out of the crashing housing market.

If Freddie and Fannie don't get their bailouts, Wall Street loses big and hence we have deafening silence from the government.

So in one quote you say blame em all...but blame Obama because he is in charge., but then blame those who voted for Obama. How about the "conservative" Republicans that voted WITH the liberals and passed the original bill that bailed out Fannie and Freddie?

Why don't you decide which one is at fault and get back to me?

Consistency, indeed!

Let's follow the logic you have laid out for us on this thread. First you said this in the OP:

Libs.... this is what socialism brings you!

Then you said this:

Guys guys guys.... I didn't want to turn this into a partisan thread

Followed by this:

Conservatives don't believe in socialism while many liberals do, as you know

and this:

Please understand that if liberals didn't believe in socialism at all and an ever-expanding govt. then it would have been way more difficult for Obama to pass the stimulus packages and bailouts. Support from his core voters helped that initiative, you can't detach them completely from POTUS. And when I say libs I do not mean Obama, I mean liberal VOTERS, NOT elected officials. So stop bringing Bush into this, I am talking about people Also more and more and more regulation, again that's a left thing not a right thing. And no conservatives don't believe in socialism, and I mean conservative voters NOT republican elected officials.

So.....if this was not supposed to be a partisan thread then why didn't you comment on the BS that is Fannie and Freddie and let the thread thrive? No, you had to toss in some propaganda buzzwords to take a sucker punch at the Libs...right?

You say it's the Libs fault, and when you are called out on the hypocrisy that even conservatives had a part in this.....you claim that you don't want this to be partisan?

Again i'm talking about Voters not elected officials Did you read my earlier response?

What about the conservative voters who put the conservatives in office that voted for the bill that gave the blank check to the government? If you are consistent and intellectually honest, you will see that the Libs are not the only ones to blame!

Otherwise, I think we all can see what your motivation was for creating this thread and its all in black and white for all to see.

And what are you doing? Criticizing them on the internet! Bravo! That'll fix the country alright!

Big banks corrupt members of the government, members of the government allow corruption to occur. It's the same freaking problem. You don't agree with the approach to solve the problem? Go to your nearest occupy protest, and suggest that you deal with elected officials. If they don't like it, start your own organization to do that. Talk is cheap, take action.

Like I said,Blame everyone!!! Add them all up Sheep! I have them all grouped up there, including the head honcho. My BIGGEST blame is the American Public, for waiting so long!!!! I never once voted Rep/Dem,I vote Independent.Feels good knowing I didnt add to this mess. Its called conviction,Sheep....But What pisses me off even more is Obama made every promise in the book, his whole mantra of "Hope and Change"! You like Obamas hope and Change, Sheep? Awesome isnt it? When Conservatives were calling his bluff,SHEEP gave him a chance. Now you protest on "bankers",forgetting conveniently, that SHEEP voted him in.I call that...................Amnesia-Irony !!!! Government own businesses?

Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.

No I didn't. I did not vote for Obama. Sadly, I voted for McCain and have learned my lesson since.

You know what changed my mind? The absolute propaganda that came from the right with rhetoric that you and others spew all over these boards day after day!

I am willing to have an intelligent conversation with you, but I will not stand for the "libs are to blame and Obama is the devil" crap when I and others know there is more to it then that.

It doesn't matter who you voted for. What matters is what you say when you attach blame. They are all to blame, so I expect to see you throw some bad words towards the right sometimes.....which I have never seen you do.

By the way: It's not the voters fault Obama has failed on his promises. Even those supporters I met at Occupy protests are pissd at him for a lack of balls.

It's the rhetoric man! It gets old and takes away from the truth that MAY be in your message. We can talk about these things but realize when you say "libs, socialism, Marxism" and such you lose the attention of people who were previously interested. The language has to change or you will be lumped in with the nut-bag NeoCons.

You're really helping. I mean, sitting on your computer, criticizing people on the internet, that is going to solve this countries problems. Why don't you go talk to your nearby occupy protest, and organize an effort to target local politicians? Something along those lines is in the works at occupykc right now.

If you think they're approaching it incorrectly, don't just badmouth them, go and help them out! Get out and do something!

And many of the protesters can't make it down to Wall Street / the White House, so that's extremely impractical to demand that everybody congregates on the White House lawn. Sure, that would be a powerful message, and if people are really so committed they should do that, but IMO it's not practical to expect that to happen just like that.

And I don't know where this misconception comes from that occupy protesters are oblivious to the corrupt politicians. They are completely aware of this. I'm an occupy protester, and I'm aware of this and it makes my blood boil. Like I said, go down to the nearest occupy protest and talk to them about it. See what they say, and you will have an equal opportunity to organize something like targetting politicians.

My local Occupy movement HAS protested Obama HQ!

There may be a few that will vote for him, but I know for a fact that that is not the consensus.

My issue is that you and others continue to rally against a REAL grass-roots movement like OWS even when the goals are actually the same, but you choose to allow yourself to be fooled by believing they are a bunch of socialist liberals.

I have stood next to Minutemen at these protests and they are far from liberal!

See what they say, and you will have an equal opportunity to organize something like targetting politicians

Exactly, you have the power to do so! Participate, my friend. You will be amazed how many will agree!
