NEW: CA Internet Tax Would Hit Small Business

www.calwatchdog.com

Instead of working on making cuts to a growing state government, California lawmakers have been dreaming up new ways to get the state’s residents to pony up more tax money, or “revenue,” as it is called in the offices of elected officials up and down California.

Taxing people who can’t vote against it seems to be the latest legislative trick, as tax increases are not popular with voters and have been voted down time and time again in recent history. Targeting out-of-state businesses seems to be just the latest scheme.

Currently, the state’s Democratic legislators are pushing

They can not pass a law on the people.
They will pass it on businesses first, and in
a couple of years they will pass it to the people.
Will businesses accept this.
Is it easier to control a business than a person.
a business is a non living entity, but the owner is not.
Are they seriously thinkink that owners will take yet another tax. is there a way to stop them in there tracks..

What can they do? Cut anything and you get people protesting, even if the state can't afford it. That's why one should never start new programs designed for welfare. Start a charity sure, but keep the government out of it lest you want irresponsible spending.

California is committing suicide (economically).... Every time they pass more laws, regulations, restrictions, prohibit this or that, and raise fees for this or that, raise taxes etc they drive business out of the state and more Californians lose jobs.... So what do they do, they find ways to make more laws and raise more revenue and make it worse.

It is a cycle that is going to end very badly for that state.

I was in the LA area last week and there is talk of 55,000+ jobs leaving Vernon.... Relocating to Texas, along with thousands of other businesses that have already left the state.

California is no longer a good place to do business, some companies are not just leaving the sate, they are leaving the country, and with them, goes millions of jobs over time.

These stupid governments (California and federal) are going to legislate their state and eventually the country into economic collapse and it seems nothing will stop it now.

They keep thinking the economy is is going to get better on its own, but fail to realize that it is their actions that are making it worse. Their spending budgets will only shrink, and revenues decline as more and more businesses fail, leave the state or country.

GOVERNMENT is the problem.... Get them the hell out of the way, or you are all doomed!

As sad as it is, it is bitter sweet as well.
As California continues to push out Communist Style laws against the people, higher taxes and political non-sense, the masses and business are fleeing.
As those flee the State, the amount of Tax revenue drops, thus creating the environment that the only way the politicians see to get to the light at the end of the tunnel is to increase taxes and fines, which will drive more from the state.

California is the perfect example of how not to run a state and why Communism, Socialism and bigger Govt do not work and is not wanted.

GO GO California.

The majority of the Hispanic and illegal immigrant population of California would disagree.

That problem is also growing, and consuming more of their budgets, no matter how you look at it, California has legislated itself into this mess, and they do not have the desire, nor motive to move to a more conservative government, so when all else fails and they tax business and the wealthy even more than they are now, they too will leave the state, in mass... Many are already.

They honestly believe they can tax and spend the state into a utopia, and everyone lives happily ever after.

If you do any business in California now, you should already be aware of all of the obstacles put in place that make doing that business both difficult and costly... So why bother?

It's beyond sad now, in fact it is actually funny in a pathetic way, like watching someone cutting their own throat, and yet are unaware they are doing it, and nothing you say or do will convince them to stop.

I can't believe how easy it is for someone that has never run a small business in their life to think 'taxes are good'...
My goodness...and I was complaining all the time about how bad the taxes are here in WA. California is a complete disaster. Too many bureaucrats running around in high places that think they're qualified enough to make economic decisions.
Small business are the easiest to tax because we don't have the resources nor the time to navigate our way through legal loopholes. Small businesses employ the majority of qualified workers in the nation, but are also the easiest for bureaucrats to take advantage of. Small businesses don't get bail outs nor do they bank in the Cayman islands.
When the bureaucrats start attacking small businesses you're pretty much setting the stage for an economic collapse. Every tax is a strain on the company and a strain on their employees paycheck.
For what exactly?
Our private sector is dying out and being turned over to the federal government..before you realize it everyone will be working for the government. This is not a free market, this isn't even capitalism. It's government sanctioned welfare for the corporate conglomerate and the bureaucratic elite. To hell with the rest.

You may want to curb your blatant racism because you nor anyone can speak for the majority of hispanics in California. I know quite a number of business owners in California who are hispanic and who would be hurt by these policies.

Its not racism, its just a simple fact.

True, there are a lot of legitimate Hispanic owned and run businesses in California, with impeccable reputations... They too are impacted by arbitrary laws, regulations, taxes and fees... Too many are forced to hire illegal immigrants to work for less, in order to survive and keep their businesses going and remain competitive.

As a budgetary issue, the illegal immigration issues are costly to the state, that is the main point I was trying to make. These immigrants are used as a kind of slave labor, they don't pay taxes, and barely survive on their pay. and have to exploit the state for whatever benefits they can get.

Personally, if it were up to me, there would be some way to get these people documented so they could legally work there, and be able to at least make a minimum wage, with minimum benefits and to pay taxes... What is racist, is for the California governments to look the other way, while this goes on, and these poor immigrants are exploited for their cheap labor.

So, are you okay with how these businesses exploit these people?

Is that racist?

It is a complex issue, with no easy answers, but at least there need to be fairness in how the laws are applied.

Yep, I guess I'm a racist.

I'm not saying illegal immigration isn't a problem, but it isn't the source of all problems California is facing. And when people refuse to make a distinction between illegals and Hispanics, not only do I call them out, I also make a point that Hispanics were living in California and much of the west before it even became part of the United States.

Illegal workers are employed mostly by agricultural businesses and it isn't always run by Hispanics as you imply. Most businesses will implement a screening process (as it is a common practice in most states to do so) and if you do any work with the government you'll have to go through the E-Verification process that will leave no room for undocumented workers.

I don't think anyone should be exploited, but that's precisely why certain businesses hire illegals in the first place. It's a double edged sword...

I'm not implying that it is only Hispanic businesses that use illegals... A lot of businesses use them, and exploit them for cheap labor.

NO it is NOT only for agricultural work... Don't be fooled!

They work in warehouses, and manufacturing, janitorial, maintenance work and much more... Said to be the "jobs Americans wont do)

I was at a huge warehouse in Torrance California some time ago, when when customs and immigrations showed up, and on loudspeakers the workers were warned, and many scattered into what seemed to be designated areas to hide, before they arrived in the warehouse... I was advised that the workers were now on break and that I would have to wait.

This goes on in many businesses there.

This isn't the whole problem for California, of course, but it is a major one... No matter how you look at it, these people are being exploited, and THAT is just wrong.

Businesses that get caught using illegals, usually get a slap on the wrist, and are back in business in a short time... The illegals that get caught lose everything, and are deported.

The illegal immigration issues in California, and the unfriendly business environment they have, and are creating there have got to be confronted, and dealt with if the state wants to survive economically.

They can't tax and spend their way out of this now.
