I just bought a new HP Pavillion dv6 and find that Windows 7 doesn't have a spell check. I'm no computer expert and have had viruses in the past and do not want one on my new computer.

Please let me know if you have found a safe download for a spell check program. Thanks

As was already stated, Firefox is free and has built-in spell check. But for your desktop, you can download Open Office which is free as well:

www.openoffice.org...

It will also have a spell check.

That is the very same computer I am on right now. I dont have a spell check, but if you use the Firefox browser there is one built in. That might be the simplest way

How do you like the computer? The keyboard seems a little awkward but I've only had it two days.

I recommend a program called tinyspell.

It will spell check everything in windows while you type...even in notepad or while you create folders and files...I mean everything.

You can use the free version or pay $10 to unlock a few more features.

This is a pretty good spell check program for IE anyway...seems to work great for me.

There are different versions...but this one seems to be the best: LINK

It is worth checking out I think.
