Thanks! Been trying to connect to webcams for past hour and failed. Your link is working!

Not dome; it is just the normal structure as seen for past few years.

Lake Lokon (Indonesia) blew over the week end too. Alert level been raised to highest and people being evacuated. With continued increased seismic activity in the whole Australasia region we shouldn't be surprised if a few more go off.

"“The only thing we can be absolutely sure of is that there is a lot of heat underneath Katla and that there is meltwater there, regardless of whether it is geothermal water or whether it was caused by eruptions,” commented Sigurdur Reynir Gíslason, a geochemist at the University of Iceland."

This is normal right?

It appears that Mount Lokan in Indonesia has Erupted,
www.huffingtonpost.com...

JAKARTA, Indonesia -- An Indonesian volcano spit lava and smoke thousands of feet into the air early Friday, sending panicked residents fleeing down its slopes. There were no immediate reports of causalities.

The first eruption at Mount Lokon occurred at 10:46 p.m., said Brian Rulrone, a disaster management agency official. It was followed by a second powerful blast just after midnight and a third at 1:10 a.m.

Thankfully is seems that nobody has of yet come to any harm.

Wow, thanks for link. Just visited, was figuring out I could control webcam and as I started to zoom in half the mountain exploded!! A small amount of white steam changed to big ash cloud in an instant.

Impressively beautiful.

You're welcome!

That camera... I discovered some time ago that you don't use that little blue box to move around.. when you have control of the camera just click in the web cam view area, anywhere and it will move. Don't know if you figured that out yet.

Another volcano coming to life in Iceland.

An eruption has occurred at another volcano in Iceland. A glacial outburst resulted from a subglacial eruption of Loki-Fögrufjöll Volcano on Tuesday night 12th July 2011. The glacial burst occurred from Köldukvíslarjökull, a part of Vatnajökull in southeast Iceland, in a location which was not previously known to have a geothermal area. The flood flowed down the Svedja river into Hágöngulón lagoon and lake Thórisvatn. A flood has never been recorded at this part of the glacier before, although the volcano possibly had subglacial eruptions in 1986 and 1991 from different locations. The water level of Hágöngulón rose 70 centimeters during the flood.

I have a question that I'd be happy if one of the 'resident' vulcanologists here could answer.

Iceland is the location of the two largest flood basalt eruptions in historical times. What is the likelihood of, for example, the Laki flood basalt eruption occurring again and what sort of tell tale signs might there be that such an event was going to happen?

In other words, is there any indication that the current volcanic activity in Iceland is a sign of a possible flood basalt eruption?

No and yes. That is technically a vent if I recall. Either way, most Hawaiian eruptions run for decades and decades. Occasionally there is an explosive eruption, but never on a St. Helens scale. Usually when something stops up the main conduits.

Pu'u 'O'o is building up as said earlier. We could see some action soon... a big build up of gasses on left-side of the lake is currently on cam right now. I've watched it dense-up for hours now.
