This is a very interesting concept, and will be trying my hand at it to see what I come up with.

I just have one question, is there an end date in which you will no longer be accepting the artwork, or will this be an ongoing thing, with artwork by members revolving every now and then?

Wow! I love your designs! The orange and pink is really cool and fresh, it makes me feel happy.
I would love to have that on my ats homepage.

thanks tripple-helix

just figured out that some ideas won.t work due to the reduction to 60kb
if anybody wants to use photoshop filter chrome - that guy is so strong that you can hardly reduce the jpg to 60 kb

Looking at the other submissions I know mine is going to suck

All I can say is that I took this picture so no copyright worries. I have the view from 180 degrees in the other direction framed up on my wall with the unedited colour. Looks pretty cool.

Just resizing it now and will post it off to you Skeptic Overlord!

You know what, I use to think I had an awesome monitor. 1080i and all that jazz, now I am seeing that I do not even get the entire screen on my monitor. Damn it!

I think it is my vid card. The highest I can go is 1360 x 768. My monitor blows away my vid card. No, I am not going to go spend some more money on upgrading my card. Money is tight. Plus I just got done blowing a previous computer. I need some more customers before I can spend anymore dang money.

You folks with the latest equipment suck!

Funny, peeps that set their monitors to lower scales do not even see the outside graphics. I use to do that to keep my surfing faster. With the upgrade to the latest computer I have, I do not have that problem anymore, but I still do not get the full effect that you peeps are talking about. Dang it!

I didn't read through the entire thread, but there seems to be several people having file size issues.

In Phososhop's drop down menu go to:

File > "Save for Web and Devices"

When the window opens there's a small drop down list icon in the very upper right hand of the window. Click it.

In this list you should see "Optimize to File Size". Click it.

In the "Desired File Size" prompt type 60. Do it.

Congratulations. You just reduced your image to approximately 60K.

What a groovy idea.

I am so liking this new skins idea.
It reminds me of the new thing on FF called Personas where you change the top of the browser.

Thanks SO for the new 2010 site, all the work that went into it, and allowing ATS "artists" to play around with the new Skins concept

I'm getting some skins that initially look great scrunched-down in the email... but upon close inspection, have a great deal of unfortunate compression artifacts that really detract from the image quality.

So I'm going to ask that all future submissions be either an uncompressed PNG file, or a PSD file. This way I can tweak the compression settings based on my experience on what works well for something like a site skin. I've done this a lot, and there's just too many small hints, tips, and tricks that make a huge different to put in one post.

That's awesome. Thanks for that.

It's always better for the person publishing to be able to have the final say on how something displays.

I know in my line of work, I'd much rather have original files than have to work with what another person provides as "ready" artwork.

I'd "star" you, if I could.

Well, sometimes it helps with simple files.

But, like SO said, it takes a lot of finesse sometimes to get an image to display optimally.

That's just a quick shortcut. But, with a lot of image manipulation, you sometimes have to do a great deal of work a head of this step to get a solid and clear display.

What an amazing idea! Love the way members are participating and actually having a hand with the layout.

The stuff looks fantastic so far.

May I ask how long this submission is open for?
