The only aid they were providing was in the form of military reinforcememts to Hamas.
Israel has every right to defend itself, no matter what Obama tries to do to draw attention away from the oil slick.
Don't be surprised if the White House was involved in some way.

No. I'm pretty sure the whole thing was a setup to make Israel look bad and draw international attention to the Gaza Strip. If they were purposefully running the blockade and expected to be boarded and searched, I doubt they'd carry the goods, and validate the Israeli search. As far as I read, they only had metal pipes and knifes. No ammo or high explosives or RPGs or anything. The ship was carrying food and medical supplies.

Regarding Israel, it was explained to me a difference in the Middle Eastern and European Jews. She was 1/2 of each and her own Ashkenazic jewish grandmother looked down on her because she was half sephardic jew.

This girl told me supposedly things were peaceful between the jews and arabs in palestine until the state of Israel was created and the European Jews with more Western traditions immigrated in mass. It's a really deep topic. I can see both sides. On basic grounds, I don't begrudge Israeli's right to exist. It's a small piece of land in a large swatch of muslim countries, mainly converted by the sword.

I would not put to much stock into what this old woman is saying. She is ancient and slowly becoming senile. Old folks say the craziest things, and half the time they don't even know it. I know from shaving conversations with them, and out of respect for them I let it slide. However, personally, it was a crude and abominable statement about the Jews of Israel. To even play around with the idea of advocating sending people back to where their families were imprisoned and slaughtered is absolutely unacceptable. What relevance does it have coming from an old woman about to push up daisies?

The media attention on this, is just pouring on controversy for sake of making headlines and sensationalizing an already tense issue. Oh yeah, I am not surprised that Fox ran with this story as quick as they have. They seem to taut themselves as the moral compass of America, or the America Rupert Murdoch would like? We have bigger things to worry about than an old woman who is in the twilight of her years who had a lapse in judgment and a poor choice of words. Just my two cents on this, but the statement from Helen Thomas was of poor taste and could hurt someone's feelings.

I'll tell you all one thing, she has more balls than all of you put together and has never shied from asking hard questions, of all presidents, instead of the MSM softball questions that usually get asked.

It's also a little off to call her "biased" in her view of the Israelis, especially when Israel has your own government, and many previous administrations by the nuts and pays / blackmails them to do what Israel wants, not what is good for America.

She was also correct on one aspect, and maybe the immigrant Jewish converts should go home. It was, after all, they who stole the land that was already occupied.

see, Helen for most of the GW Bush press conferences, was never or hardly ever called on to do questions...they made it assumed her points were trivial or off-the-wall

Now that Øbama is allowqing her to address questions, that means in political status, that her views & opinions are now recognized as having gravitas...
so, it is 'code' by the Øbama-nation cadre of socialist-marxists to be quiet on Helen's public quotes----meaning a tacit 'approval' by the policy crafters in the WH.

a certain 'diplomacy' is being waged here by the policy crafters and telling Isreal in couched language their actions & implied covert activity/preparations vis-a-vis Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria... are all 'on-the-table' in future formulations of policies between the USA & Israel...

and between the NATO member Turkey -v- Israel...
the message being sent (via Helen Thomas) as an adjunct diplomat without portfilio, is that Israel is the pot of water on the stove & the USA is turning up the heat surface...

so just don't slop over onto the grill or poof ! it will result in an instantaneous burn off

No, I cannot give specific examples of how Israel blackmails US politicians. I'm sure anyone who could would probably be "sleeping with the fishes", to use a mob phrase.

However, it can't just be the money that keeps the the politicians in line and, given the number of Israeli spies and their willing helpers, I'm sure they have a lot of material and know where a lot of bodies are buried. Stuff that would be, at the very least, damaging to administrations past and present.
That's without even mentioning the Israeli involvement in the selection of candidates in the US, and thus support. Let's face it, the Whitehouse is just as much occupied territory as the rest of the Palestinian territories, given the dual nationals in high office.

Yes but if that is to be the new rule, then how would you feel if 100 million yanks who live in America today gave their land back to native Americans then came back home and settled in your neighborhood mate. After all, they stole the land that was already occupied. Maybe we could all go down to the local pub and settle our differences with drinking games.

You forget the fact that Israel was left in control of the Jews just about every time a non Arab empire concurred them, They had some authority over themselves as in Roman times. They answered to Rome but were only a part of it.

Not to mention it was occupied by nomadic people with numbers of less than 100,000. Also it was the Egyptians who treated the Jews so badly that they were FORCED to find another new HOME. God led them to the holy land that is rightfully theirs.

Palestine was a REGION that was very vast and the Arabs had never laid claim to any part of it let alone be organized in any way.
