Dear Commissioned Corps Officers of Tier III Roster D:

The U.S. Capitol Police and the Office of the Attending Physician, through the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Office of Preparedness and Emergency Response, has asked the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD) to roster medical strike teams of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses to provide Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support during the 2010 State of the Union Address in Washington, DC. Capital Area Provider Team #4 will be working this event but we plan to AUGMENT their team with additional assets from Tier III Roster D.

Nurse Practitioners
Physician Assistants
Registered Nurses

President Obama will deliver his first State of the Union address tonight. The event has been designated as a National Special Security Event (NSSE), the 10th address on Capitol Hill to receive the designation. Overall, this event is the 37th to be named a NSSE since the designation was established in 1998.
A number of factors are taken into consideration when designating an event as a National Special Security Event – including a few outlined below:
Anticipated attendance by dignitaries - Events which are attended by officials of the United States Government and/or foreign dignitaries also may create a federal interest in ensuring that the event transpires without incident and that sufficient resources are brought to bear in the event of an incident.
Size of the event - A large number of attendees and participants generally increases the security requirements.
Significance of the event - Some events have historical, political and/or symbolic significance and generate significant attention.
When an event is designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security as a NSSE, the U.S. Secret Service assumes its mandated role as the lead agency for the design and implementation of the operational security plan.

With the State of the Union address, as with all major events in the Washington, D.C. area, the Secret Service calls upon established relationships with experienced counterparts to develop and implement a seamless security plan that will create a safe and secure environment for all involved. The Secret Service has always relied heavily on the assistance received from local and federal law enforcement/public safety partners and the military for NSSEs.

A number of DHS components are also assisting in planning and security for the State of the Union, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Other partner agencies include:

There have always been tensions, and there have always been bad things.
Yet there have always been good things as well.
You know just as well as I that worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but doesnt take you anywhere.
We're all part of a reactionary populace, we have little to say about or do about what happens at the upper levels.
You can worry yourself sick, OR simply prepare yourself as best you can and deal with the day to day. DONT FORGET the system in place holds TPTB just as much a captive as the rest of us, if the system breaks down, we ALL fall down. FEAR SUCKS its useless, dont subscribe to it, enjoy your life and do the best you can while doing no harm.

The answer is never, its a hope to cling to for justification or validation of time spent worrying and investing so much energy into in hopes for a pay day.

So, it's a really big deal. Nonetheless I continued to be puzzled and a little concerned as to the request for all the medical personnel.

The first thing that crossed my mind, is he will state something that will cause the markets to crash tomorrow, and all the fat-cats will be grabbing their hearts and falling over.

Or a trampling event, as everyone makes a big exodus to get to the door.

I'm by no means a PETA fan but i like their State of the Unions way more.
Just watched a few of them very interesting. Don't let kiddies watch it though there are naked chicks in it. As far as aliens who knows maybe one day we'll find out one way or the other.
