I assume these are not aftershocks - I am sure they are feeling these stronger quakes now.

Well it looks like some major shifting right in a fault.
well at least they shouldn't have a very big tsunami.

Someone must be concerned these quakes - the beginning quakes were all depth set by default - now, They jumped right on it and now we are getting more accurate depth readings.

And another 5.3 - appearing to me to be foreshocks

5.3 2010/11/14 17:02:50 12.055 43.735 15.4 NEAR THE COAST OF YEMEN

There's a triple junction there isn't there?
I tend more towards the 'quakes being associated with that than a stargate opening.

I wouldn't be too concerned until the number of quakes gets into the hundreds.

The location of the quake swarm is significant in that the Tadjoura Trough runs right into Tagiura Bay off Djibouti and then Ghoubet Kharab, if you follow the geography south west then comes Lake Abbe and the first volcano Dama Ali.
Heading further on SW is a chain of volcanos that eventually joins up with the African Rift Valley, and going NW a mass of volcanos run up to Masowa in Eritrea.
This is probably part of the predicted opening up of the Horn of Africa where the land will spread and depress through Tagiura Bay/ Ghoubet Kharab, creating a new sea there.
I think I have the spot right, seen it on a TV documentary.
Someone has probably done a paper on this, just a matter of finding it.
It will be interesting to see if there is any new activity from the Ethiopian Volcanos in the near future.

Using Google Earth anyone can be an expert
. For those that don't have it heres what it looks like, with the white text and arrows by me.

I am the one who mentioned star gate (with tongue in cheek)

Like the dummie I am, I set my alarm to get me up at 9 to listen to the Chandra press conference, and got up too late, and its not even until tomorrow. Now I am po'd at myself and I see that there are even more Yemen/Djbooti quakes, getting bigger. I am going back to bed for a while. There is going to be a biggie over there soon.

Live Earthquake Mashup has a nice view of where the quakes are located at right now. EMSC seem to have them more widespread and down to lower magnitudes.

Did any one else see the build up fpr this?
You have to look at the big picture, and its along the lines of what I was saying a week or so ago about how the quake in the Red Sea and the Serbia quake could have been related as they were both on the boundry of the African Plate.
Heres another map, lifted from Live earthquakes showing the usgs events for last 7 days.

Ooooooooo ! a hexagon

Thanks - yes I noticed that. Quite a few on EMSC that are not on USGS.

Still wondering if these are indeed foreshocks.

Date/Time UTC,Latitude,Longitude,Magnitude,Depth(Km),Location
2010-11-14T10:34:28.000Z,12.13710,44.01410,4.8000,10.1000,near the coast of Yemen
2010-11-14T10:37:25.000Z,11.74960,44.08000,4.5000,10.0000,Gulf of Aden
2010-11-14T10:37:47.000Z,11.87440,44.02310,4.9000,10.0000,Gulf of Aden
2010-11-14T11:14:12.000Z,11.71500,43.99430,4.8000,10.0000,near the coast of Djibouti

The middle two are odd because the location is different and they are only appearing on USGS whereas normally that would be the other way round for quakes < 5.0

Spreading a bit now:

Well, one thing I know is that if I lived anywhere along the coast near that cluster I would taking a little trip inland!

I can see the connection to the Red Sea quakes, but whilst I still have my doubts about Serbia how did Iran suddenly get roped in on this one?

I've only had time for some quick research. Here is a passage from a 2001 article:

Structural and microtectonic analyses of the basins along the continental margin of Yemen reveal that these basins, formed during the Jurassic and the Cretaceous, have been reactivated from Late Oligocene to Early Miocene with an average stretching direction trending N20jE. However, a late syn-rift, N160jE trending extensional event also occurs along the margin over more than 1000 km between Oman and Djibouti. We interpret this extension, which is perpendicular to the overall trend of the gulf of Aden, as induced by the westward propagation of the oceanic ridge, following a mechanism similar to a tension crack, but of lithospheric scale (Manighetti et al., 1997, 1998; Courtillot et al., 1999).
