    Here's a map from EMSC: EMSC map. The quake was deep, 33 km. 109 km from Gizo (population 6,154).

    acording to this map there have been two over mag 7s in the area and there has been a tsumani detected . hope this helps a bit .

    Both USGS and EMSC now says that the 1st quake was a 6.5 and the 2nd quake was a 7.2, less than an hour later.

    A 6.9-magnitude earthquake shook the Pacific Ocean near the Solomon Islands Tuesday night, one day after a string of earthquakes rattled the same area and another quake hit the Philippines

    Apparently the 7.2 quake generated a local 10ft tsunami that left 1000 people homeless but, luckily, everyone had headed for the hills before it struck.
