you think just naming 10 guys considered to be a threat is enough information to warrant hating an entire group of people?

Oh, right on time, here comes the "hate" and crying "victim" when faced with facts.
Have a nice day Ms Spiromonkeygal.

This is what the op says at the beginning.

Just look through some of the articles here and you can see the bigotry that has infested some peoples minds and poisoned them to people that for the most part don't want to hurt anyone.

Now I have never said that all Muslims are a threat, but I have been accused of that by many, including the op. I have been accused of wanting to murder all Muslims, remember? I have been labeled as an example of someone whose mind has been invested with bigotry, because I have a problem with the veil.

Has anyone who has posted here speaking out about their problems with Islam not been accused of bigotry? The thread has been one long personal attack against anyone who has a problem with Islam.

If you want to pretend this isn't true, that is your choice.

I'm still wondering - do you think there is no bigotry here against Muslims at all?

forget about yourself for a moment

is this really what you're saying - that there is no point in even discussing it because it simply doesn't exist?

We don't live in a digital world.

Of course there is bigotry here, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE! This is irrelevant.

There is always bigotry. We all have degrees of intolerance towards others, and I have already stated this earlier.

Most of the problems people are talking about with Islam have nothing to do with their lack of tolerance for Islamic culture, and everything to do with people seeing Islam as a threat to their lives.

This isn't about bigotry, this is about self preservation. Can you see the difference?

Let me bring up the lion example again. I have no problem with a lion's culture, the way they organize their prides, all that.

However, I will not allow a lion to roam my community. I will kill that lion before it kills me or anyone else.

Like a fast growing body of people, I see a predator in Islam. As long as it was not in my area, I was not concerned, but that is changing.

LOL!

ahhhh....the roly-poly eyes of disdain

c'mon poet - you know what I'm asking :-)

you're worse than a politician

but no matter - you answered my question - with more ammo than was really necessary - but you still answered

thanks

worn out for today - outta here

I'm going to go listen to some pretty music and forget about all this for a while...

At least I answer your questions.

When are you going to answer some of mine?

You are far more the politician than I am. The consistent lack of commentary on your part speaks volumes.

Maybe when you come back tomorrow you will take the time to actually put some effort into expressing the reasons for your opinions, instead of your customary defensive reactions to my perspectives on the issue.

Do you have any reasons for your stance on the issue?

you let me know what I've missed and I promise to answer - directly

I love all the funny monkeys poet1b :-)

it really is pretty simple

you don't need an explanation for that I hope

Do you have any reasons for your stance on the issue?

of course I do

I've seen the results of this bigotry - this attitude towards the Muslims - up close and personal

but I have to say that even if I had absolutely no experience whatsoever it's not hard to miss - and I would still be outraged

bye for now

you know - I was thinking about it

not too long ago - I was dishing out basically the same stuff in a thread where people were bashing the Jews

does that clear it up some?

:-)

It's an in-group/out-group thing. People like to bash that which they don't understand, and have no intention of understanding. They take the media propaganda an (what this thread is about) and run with it, assuming that Fox News has their best interest at heart.

Once someone is dead-set that they have an enemy, it's nearly impossible to reason it out of them. They're working with a separate part of the brain. This isn't a reasonable thing, it's a fear response attempting to be rationalized by faulty information. It starts at the amygdala, then manifests as cognitive dissonance. The problem is that the mass media takes advantage of this and feeds on fear, resulting in responses like we're seeing in this thread.

You can't be angry with them, only pity them.

welcome back Soren - it's been a long day :-)

and I'm still here - my own fault of course - I have absolutely no common sense sometimes

apparently

I think I may have pulled my amygdala today :-)

and I am dealing with my own bout of cognitive dissonance: people bad - no people good...

You can't be angry with them, only pity them.

you're right - and I'm not as angry as I am disappointed

I am leaving for a while - though I may be back on later - knowing how I am

computer bad - no computer good...

that really helped though

thanks

Traumst_du... you do realise that you are adding weight to an argument that could eventually see YOU kicked out of Oz???

explain to me how? when all I want is for everybody to just live in harmony, no matter what their religion or race is. I moved here, I left behind the lifestyle we had over there, I assimilated. I just don't understand how it's so bloody hard. And I'm not trying to be racist, as I've got family who have middle eastern blood in them, and I love 'em.

I joined the other day because I read this thread and felt I wanted to add my two cents in. I've actually been reading ATS for a good 2 years now

I'm not a racist troll, is it racist to want everyone to live equally in a land? I'm a disinformation agent because I have views and opinions? yeah. sure.

Bottom line is that Islam is not compatible with any other religion or structure of society, and more importantly it has NO INTENT to be compatible.

Islam is an abrahamic religion just like judaism and christianity.

All 3 are the same, how can they not be compatible when they are identical?

Clones of each other with different rethoric

I think organised religion in general is just not compatible with society. I just find it's all an excuse for war, violence and disharmony.

And I'm tired of trying to give anymore points, it seems like I'll only be accused of being a racist troll etc, when all I wanted originally was to share my experience and what I've seen.

Not every Muslim, but behind every burqa and hijab there is a Muslim family that seeks to conquer our culture and to destroy it. While most probably will not be actively working to make this happen, they will support any such efforts.

You are right, attempting to discuss the issue is a waste of time. There is no respect or consideration given towards my perspective by those who side with Islam.

and on my closing note, I agree with Poet here. definitely.
I'll just go back to reading ATS.

Another thread derailed by the typical "racism" distraction.
Islam has an agenda. The agenda is dictated by the Koran.
Those with no knowledge will always fall into the racism argument because they fail to understand or refuse. That's why there will be war. Star bellies and plain bellies just can't get along. Very sad.

You see, first you have to understand that there are 1.5 Bil muslims on this planet making every 1 in 4 person a muslim.

Once you have understood that, than you also have to understand that not all 1.5Bil muslims are saints. They have their own sets of problems as we have in every religion, community, society, country. There are extremists, rapists in every race and religion. So you can't just say these things are unique to ISlam and islam only promotes these things.

Would you say all the british people are bad because of this?

Two Boys, 10, Charged With Raping Girl, Eight

Two boys aged 10 have been charged with raping an eight-year-old girl following an incident in Hayes, west London, in October.

Sky news

Would you say all the christians are extremists because of this?

Inside The Church of Hate

The Sky Report has secretly filmed one of America's most controversial Christian ministers praising the London bombings.Fred Phelps says that terrorist outrages and natural disasters such as Hurricane Rita are examples of God's wrath against countries such as America and Britain for tolerating homosexuals and homosexuality.

Sky news

Would you say every Christian is a rapist?

Notorious Priest Rape Trial Starts

Former priest Paul Shanley told a 6-year-old boy, "If you tell, no one will believe you," before molesting him at a Newton parish in the early 1980s, a prosecutor said Tuesday. But the defense said his story was concocted in order to bring a lawsuit.

CBS

You and jjay can easily copy paste articles showing 'muslims behaving badly'.Well i could do the same for every bad thing that takes place in the West. But it wouldn't make sense because we all know that these people are a few odd black sheeps that hardly even make 1% of the population.

What i have noticed in many of your posts is that your problem is not with extremist muslims only, but you seem to hate every muslim and the whole religion that they follow.

Someone with that kind of attitude can't be far off from a racist, xenohpobe or an islamophobe.

The difference between Islam and the rest of the world is that in Islamic controlled countries the women are punished for putting themselves into a situation where they might possibly be raped, while in the rest of the world, the attackers, the rapist, who are the criminals are punished, and not the women who were victims of rape.

The problem is the overall attitude of Islam against women, and the idea that a woman must cover herself so that the man is not tempted, as opposed to the idea of the man learning self control as is demanded in the rest of the world.

The fact that you refuse to recognize the difference tells me that you don't care. Your only purpose here is to spread propaganda.

Either you have lived an extremely sheltered life where you have never had to defend yourself or others, or everything you say is a total fabrication. I think the latter.,

There is absolutely nothing wrong with defending oneself and ones family and loved ones, or in fact the weak who can not defend themselves from aggressors seeking to exploit others for their own selfish needs.

It is your brain that malfunctioning. You are the one spinning, or living in, idealistic fantasies about the world.

Struggle is inherent to our nature. Fight or fight are primal instincts that exist for very good reasons.

Murderers and rapists should not be embraced by society. They should be justly punished.

A culture or religion that preaches murder in the name of god (terrorism) and rape (any woman who doesn't cover herself from head to toe and is not escorted by a male relative being fair game) is something that should not be tolerated.

Some people are good, some people are bad, and that is the sad reality of the world.

Bad people like to find ways to justify their behavior, and that is something we should not cater to.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Now you get it.

Now you understand the point of this thread. Thank you for your understanding. It's not Islam that is the issue, but people. It is people that act in the name of Islam that drag it through the mud and corrupt and slander a religion that in and of itself promotes peace.
