Bride's bouquet brings down plane

news.bbc.co.uk

The traditional throwing of a bride's bouquet for luck ended in disaster at an Italian wedding when the flowers caused a plane to crash.

The bride and groom had hired a small plane to fly past and throw the bouquet to a line of women guests, Corriere della Sera reported.

However, the flowers were sucked into the plane's engine causing it to catch fire and explode.

Now that's what I call flower power.

Should we now be suspicious if someone with an Arabic accent makes a call to Interflora?

And what of the tradition of throwing the bouquet for luck? It was presumably a tried & tested formula up to now.

What's your advice for couples contemplating such dangerous activities? Are there implications for confetti?

OMG what a horrible thing to have happen and on your wedding day and it was something you though of. Wow if that isnt an omen for that marriage I dont know what it. I personally wouldnt do anything drastic like that when I get married. Keep it simple I say.

I agree entirely. Leave the bouquet at home. Just take daisies.

It should help keep insurance costs down.

I love the irony of the Google adds below the article. I'm still laughing!

Ads by Google

"flowers and plants for all occasion wedding flower speclists"

"wedding decorations, party rentals ceiling drapes, mandap, centerpieces."

"Flowers and decoration to help make your wedding ceremony beautiful."

Interesting.

I wonder if the photographer got pictures?

They will always remember this wedding day. I wonder what kind of superstitions there are when your bouquet brings down a plane?
