IAF Sudan strike / 'Two planes hit convoy'

Two senior Sudanese politicians confirmed Thursday that unidentified aircraft attacked a convoy of suspected arms smugglers as it drove through Sudan toward Egypt in January, killing almost everyone in the convoy. An American news network said that the attack was carried out by the Israel Air Force.

CBS reported that the IAF carried out the attack on a convoy of trucks in Sudan carrying arms for Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

According to the report, 39 people riding in the 17-truck convoy were killed, while a number of civilians in the area were injured.

Israeli officials declined to confirm or deny whether Israel had been involved in an air strike in Sudan.

There must have been a prime target, to take out a whole convoy and use Israeli jets.

What make you think Israel was involved in this attack? Did CBS reporter ride the convoy? I believe tha attacker could be from Egypt, Lybya, Saudi Arabia, US, or Israel.

i hate to say this, but all the pieces are being moved into place for a World WarIII, its what the NWO have wanted for a while, its been in there agenda.. with all thats going on in the middle east, and now with North Korea, and what happened in Russia and georgia

No Isreal does not hae ANY carriers or carrier qualified aircraft.



The F-15E's they have in inventory could do it

3,100 nm (3,570 miles; 5745 km) ferry range with CFTs and drop tanks
2,400 nm (2,765 miles; 4445 km) with drop tanks
1,000 nm (1,150 mi; 1,853 km) Max Combat Radius

2400 nm with drop tanks and a minimum load of SDB etc plus a few A2A's.

They would not have to over fly Eqypt but rather Jordan and Saudi Arabia to strike that region. They could also overly Egypt. Im not sure of the state of the radar defence in Saudi around the Jordan border.



However, rather than risk some of thier prime tactical strike assests this smells more like a Predator drone attack. If the IAF had flown enough F-15E to the Sudan they would have been noticed by someone.

You can get from Israel to Sudan by flying over disputed territories in between Egypt, Saudi and Israel. There's a thin corridor.

Not sure if this fits the bill for the IAF though- why not just wait and track the arms, blast them on the border once the Hamas guys are near the arms... kill two birds with one stone.

Well, whoever it was has some answering to do.

The only people who are allowed to attack a target within a sovereign nation is the sovereign nation itself... otherwise, it's a declaration of war.

Israel is supplied by the most technologically advanced nation the USA, the world has yet seen. If they wanted to do it the tech is almost certainly there.

It is plausible that Israel is targeting Sudan. A number of issues come to mind that includes the countries surrounding Western Darfur.

In 2006 the oil rich Chad kicked out a US oil consortium for running rough shod over the interests of the Chadian people. The Chadian government broke the contract with the US companies over tax defaults and other technicalities. Subsequently, unknown hands instigated a cross border attack by irregular forces from Sudan into Chad which threatened the capital city. The Chadians repelled these invaders.

Chad has ordered two major foreign oil firms, responsible for 60% of Chad's production, to quit the country in a row over taxes. President Idriss Deby gave the order to US firm ChevronTexaco and Malaysia's Petronas. "ChevronTexaco and Petronas must leave Chad because they have refused to pay their taxes," Mr Deby said. However, Chevron says it has fully complied with tax demands and not had "official notification" to leave. Meanwhile, Petronas could not be reached for comment.

These irregular forces are known as the Janjaweed

While Sudan complains that it does not have control of the Janjaweed both the US and Israel insist that they instruments of genocide by the Arab Muslims against the African Muslims in Darfur.

There is a tribal problem in Sudan like in most African countries, however, Arab Muslims and African Muslims are so mixed that is difficult to decide where one ends and the other begins.

This confusing conflict has become a cause celebre amongst the glitterati in Hollywood and the Israeli media, yet it seems to be lacking in fervency in the face of the ubiquity of pronouncements by the concerned.

Regarding the alleged strike by Israel on the Sudanese convoy, how is it possible that food and water cannot break through the Egyptian border to Gaza, yet is claimed that some Sudanese folks were driving truck loads of arms through the Sahara and the entire length of Egypt without being stopped somewhere along the way. Something doesn't add up. However, in the context of the Darfur conflict, it is possible that Israel struck a Sudanese military convoy with arms for Sudanese soldiers on Sudanese territory perhaps to secure its territory from Janjaweed activities.

So who's arming the rebels ?

Whenever Sudanese tries to capture back control of Darfur. The so-called Western NGOs and media will scream bloody "Human rights"/"Genocide" and effectively halt it, yet turns around and accuse Sudan of not able to protect the resident of Darfur ? I'm serious. The Sudanese is not doing anything the US is not doing in Iraq, in fact, Darfur belongs to Sudan, and they are legally fighting foreign supported rebels... and as in Iraq - collateral damages occurred... a burning hooch here and there and it's "Genocide". but bombing of wedding parades in Afghanistan is a mistake.

What about the actions of the banditry and raping Rebels ? They gets a free pass, you hardly hears and reads anything about them.. including who arms and finance them. Why do they have an office in London (JEM). Why does the leader of SLA gets a red carpet welcome in the white house in 2006 ?

Why aren't these human right's loving NGO not at CONGO (5 million death) or even secret prison in Kenya, Ethiopia or Uganda protesting ?

There is a bigger geo-political and resource grab at play then the media is dishing out. To me , these days, the different between a journalist and a propagandist is razor thin.. some call it "bias", but I see it differently.
