This is horrible news. I hope all ATS spiritual-types will spend some time on this in whatever way they can help. RV'rs and psychics could be very helpful.

For my part, I will say traditional prayers for the souls and their repose asking my ancestors to escort them to the place of bliss.

Doing just a little research on possible "threats" on NASA folks and/or contractor employees I found one that is very interesting:

She was then hired by a Rockwell subsidiary
where she repeated her complaints to her new bosses, to the FBI, and to
NASA's inspector general. She has received letters threatening her life.
Two other whistle blowers also contend that they have received anonymous
telephone threats against their children.

full article here: catless.ncl.ac.uk...

You can read the whole "threat on NASA whistle-blowers " here if interested and may find some more links to a possible "wet works" inside organizations such as NASA.

Its a good read here :catless.ncl.ac.uk...

Hmmm...really?

A search on google reveals a lot of cases of perpetrators setting fires to cover robbery and murder. In fact it does happen quite a bit.

Non illigitamus carborundum!!

Let me make a wild speculation: This gentleman stops at the local 7-11 to pick up a gallon of milk for the kids on his way home from Dryden. Some of the locals from Palmdale/Lancaster see the guy pull in with a nice SUV, dressed in a suit, and figures this guys is an easy mark. They follow him home, rob and murder him and all in the house. He/she/they light the house afire (forgot gloves) to cover any evidence of their crime. Happens all the time in the high desert. Probably has something to do with the natives.

Regarding speculation of NASA informers, all of them love their jobs and the status that goes with it. They'll sacrifice almost everything for their job and to keep "their" birds flying. Families often take the back seat. They know what not to talk about. Their emails are read and phones are tapped for "National Security" reasons, and the slightest transgression is treated very seriously. Security is always on their minds.

I have a good friend (who doesn't these days) who works for NASA and spends time at Edwards and Dryden, hands-on with the vehicles, and we have talked about almost everything. Launches, astronaut stories, refurbing Columbia at Palmdale a few years back. But not a word about the activities at Dryden. I asked him once and he just looked at me and then the ground shaking his head no. He didn't say a word and I knew he couldn't and it was never brought up again. I should have known better. These folks know, if they open their mouths, they are done. You get with the program, mind your own business, and keep your mouth shut. PERIOD.

At this point, the simplest explanation is the best explanation.

It's probably a home invasion burglary.

After the simple explanations have been exhausted then other explanations can be examined.

At this point, all we know is that four people are dead and two of those were innocent children.

Regardless, this is a matter for law enforcement.

When or if more facts are released, then speculative discussions might be in order.

People seem to be missing a few possibilities I say the most likely perp is either someone who knew him personally, or a corporate or government entity.
It might have even been someone inside NASA maybe someone higher up or someone at ATK as a lot of NASA engineers are protesting the flawed design of Ares and the ESAS plan.
Though he maybe have simply leaked something black or it was just a common home break in as most people seem to be suggesting.

this is not ` free thinking ` and critical analysis - itts free flowing drivel

Let's have a look shall we?

murders for revenge , criminal gain or even sensless murders happen all the time

Since we don't know that this happened it's sounds like so much speculation to me

have you looked into the backbround of all his family ? if not why not

a significant proportion of such multiple murder / attempted cover up are commited by family / relatives who are either ending a vendetta or speeding up an inheritance

At present this can only be speculation (slightly woowoo too)

the next biggest cause is home invasion / agravated burgulary for protit

You were there?... you saw it happen?.... No?... Oh, you're speculating... aah

but oh no - as this is ATS the focus of finger pointing instantly jumps to ` evil government coverup `

This tends to happen in a site dedicated to conspiracies

You were saying, about speculation?

Yeah that's why the police took his two known associates into custody isn't it?

hmmm....

I find it a "coincidence" that we're seeing a proverbial UFO storm, and a man who works at an exotic technologies research center ends up dead at the same time. Then Fox news announces the they're testing the supposed SR-71 replacement Blackswift too: www.abovetopsecret.com...
Oh yeah this NASA guy, used to work on the SR-71 simulators... But yeah, burglary sounds real likely...eeyup.

And I bet the UK is just seeing a bunch of weather balloons and swamp gas too huh?

That information is not contained in the cited article and I haven't seen it cited elsewhere so I can't comment on it.

As for the rest of your post, I don't have a comment.

How prudently political of an answer you got there
then why comment/reply at all? Especially considering your first opinion was not backed by any report either so....yeah.

Hello everyone,

My God, some of you people need to quit being so paranoid and get a life.

Joe Ciganek was my good friend. I worked with him from 1989 on the Blackbird Program at NASA (shortly after the USAF retired the airplanes and signed 3 of them over to us at Dryden on a reactivation-ready/flyable storage agreement) until 2000, when NASA basically finished work with them and re-retired them again, this time to museums around the country.

I worked with Joe nearly every day. He and several other fellows were responsible for bringing the only SR71 simulator in the world back on line, a big job. The computers were old-world giant mainframe style with huge disk platters--all had to be reprogrammed and integrated with modern desktop technology. Eventually we got the sim going and shortly after, the first "A" model and the only "B" model trainer in the world arrived. Eventually crews were trained to fly and they could go out and fly the real airplanes.

I was in support of the entire program. My job was logistics and supply. I had to become an expert in every part and system on the airplanes, and I specialized in all the ground equipment and test items as well. I also maintained the voluminous print crib and the only microfiche card set in existence, in order that the engineering and maintenance people could have the parts, supplies and data they needed. It was a huge undertaking and I loved every minute of it.

In our off time I visited Joe at his home on a couple occasions. His wife Jocelyn was a gracious woman and she and Joe were top-shelf people. He was very intelligent and capable in his capacity as a systems manager at Dryden. I would rate him as in the top 50 personalities at Dryden with regard to character, integrity, and generally all-around likeability. There was no unseemly side to Joe, and he was not involved in anything untoward or ulterior. He was just good guy who had, over the years, climbed the ladder of management and was in a somewhat comfortable place of status in his field of endeavor. However, he remained a nice guy and everyone held him in high esteem. Everyone at Dryden is in extreme shock to hear that Joe had been murdered. There is not an atmosphere of secrecy, paranoia or fear at NASA-Dryden, that is preposterous. Shame on everyone and anyone who raises such specters of doubt about that which they know nothing of.

For the benefit of all you creeps out there who have no sense of reality, NASA is not involved in anything secret or underground. That's not in their charter. They do work often with DOD, but only because it brings them needed buisness for their large and often stagnant engineering, scientific and technological labor pool. I know, I worked there for a long time and we were lucky to get a long-term and plum program like the Blackbird to work on.

The people who were killed along with Joe were a relative and her two children who were living with the Ciganeks. The woman had an ugly divorce a recently and the ex-husband was jealous and controlling of her. The Ciganeks opened their home to her family as a safe-haven. They lived together in Joe's home before this happened. The children were smart and did very well in local schools. If you want to theorize about anything, try theorizing that a vengeful and controlling ex-husband went to, or sent some minions to, Joe's home to exact some kind of punishment upon the ex-wife. It was told by local law enforcement that Joe had just returned home from work and was violently attacked with a blunt force object, and slashed and stabbed to death. The woman and her children were either already dead or in the process of being killed when he came home, probably surprising him. A fire was set using an accellerant of some kind to try and cover the act up. This was a murder, probably vengeance. It was not some hit or a secret group silencing anyone.

God bless Joe, his family & Jocelyn.

Here's what I could find on him:

"Electronics technician Joe Ciganek was responsible for operation and maintenance of the SR-71 flight simulator while it was at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center."

So it sounds like he worked in the Skunk Works Dept. of NASA - sounds like he was no mere employee at NASA, he was a big player...

I'll not speculate on his death, but I do want to note that the SR-71 is 1960s technology and is retired; its last official flight was in 1999.

Whatever he was doing at NASA, it sure wasn't running a flight simulator for an spyplane that has been retired nearly a decade now.

I think you're right that this is cover for work on current advanced aircraft, possibly the elusive Aurora program.

If the guy was related to the SR71 program and with this public announcement recently about successful test flights of hypersonic vehicles (above Mach 4)etc. You can rest assured he was a loose end that needed to be tied off.

If you can remember correctly around 1998 to present many scientists began dropping like flies that were in the fields of virology, molecular microbiology etc..

So now we have another dead scientist to add to Pupps and Quayles list..no big deal nothing to worry about as Mr Icke says.

Seems all these deaths began in the era of the Reagan Bush Clinton clans in the early 1980s. Remember SDI was on the table for public view around this time. I am sure we will see many more high profiles die under precarious situations in the following years to come.

Our leaders have your best interest and there are no conspiracies taking place ...so relax and quit being tinfoil hatters.

DEATH LIST

The sad part about the Nay Sayers that call you tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorists are so far gone at this point that the leaders could actually come out on the evening news and say "Yes...we are killing these people because they know way too much about higly sensitive stuff relating to National Security subjects" The nay sayers still wouldnt believe it and would continue cracking the jokes about black helicopters and tinfoil hats.

Just a fact.

Is this how all posts end up? Chattering about intent and presumptions? BORING!
I think you aimed low in your assumption (I assume) that people will not look at any/all facets of such a crime. IMHO your dumbing down the intelligence of the dear readers.
Interesting story, regardless.

Everyone always has a conspiracy theory of why some event took place. If it was a conspiracy then the truth will not come out. There is nothing we can do if it was so. Secrets are kept for a reason(not that we like it) but will be kept secret until it is deemed acceptable to let laymen in on information. Live your life and stop trying to uncover the lies that we will not uncover. If all the theories are right we are all screwed anyways.

I have to agree with ZeroKnowledge, there isn't enough info to support a conspiracy.

The question is why stab and beat the 10 year old boy when the others where shot with a gun. It almost sounds more like sick kids or classmates taking revenge.
