We have decided upon a 32 Fighter tournament. It was just getting too complicated with ranked Fighters being over the 24 limit (as stated in the opening post of this thread) and rather than go through the painful process of deciding who goes where we decided to keep it all in one.

And due to the fact that we need a number of debates in each round to be an even number...there will be no byes. We tried the math and it just doesn't work if we include byes.

16 fights in the first round. Concerns were raised regarding the judging process being effected; Special attention will be given to the first round to insure that we maintain a reasonable amount of time for judgments to be completed and as fair/thorough as we have come to expect.

8 fights in the second round and so forth for a total of five rounds.

We have a very strong field this time around and I have to say that I am excited to see you guys battle it out; with returning powerhouses of the recent and not so recent past as well as a few renowned newcomers. This tourney pretty much guarentees a shuffling in the rankings and more importantly promises a treasure trove of objective analysis of the topics that the mainstream media and average citizen won't touch with a ten foot pole.

Ladies and Gentlemen...this is where we prove that our forum is the premier on ATS.

I just want to mention, thanks to all the fighters currently debating, and/or who have just finished up a debate. So much to read! I can't imagine what it's going to be like during Round 1, when we will have up to 16 debates going simultaneously.

Haha, intrepid called sky a girl. It must be the dolphins. I guess "fights like a girl" isn't considered an insult here, at all. Do I sense a future grudge-match?

I believe he said he would be back on Tuesday, peacejet. I guess that means another 24 hours, at minimum. Wouldn't blame him if he took more time than that, even - I'm sure he's got his hands full. I am wanting to get on with the funny debate, but that should be secondary to family, of course..

I disagree. ATS=First, Family=Next.

So I noticed that no one is yakkin' it up about all the potential first round matchups.



There are some juicy ones in there.

I missed out on the tournament. After getting my feet wet with my first Challenge, I would have enjoyed it....

....oh well, maybe next go around....

Well, until the judging is done on the debates which just finished, it is a little hard to tell where one might be matched up. I'm not sure I really understand how the 1st round matchups get picked, anyway.

But by guessing, it looks like I could be matched up with Frank, Antar, Doomsday, or Budski, Wormwood, or Ozweatherman. Me vs. Antar could be interesting as we are both writers. Me vs. Budski could be good times for the whole FCP, and me vs. Ozweatherman could be challenging but fun as we are friends and usually on the same side of issues. Who I really wish I could drag into the Debate Forum is TheRedneck. He and I are nearly always on the same side also, but if we had to argue against each other I think it would be something to see.

A Mike Singh debate is bound to be interesting no matter who his opponent is, and more debates by the "big names" (Sky, Vagabond, Ian, Truth, etc.) are always something to look forward to.

Any way you look at it, it's good times ahead!
