Granting Donald Trump's request to delay his classified-documents case in Florida could present the opportunity for the former president's other criminal cases to head to trial ahead of the presidential election, according to Glenn Kirschner, legal analyst and former federal prosecutor.

Trump is facing a plethora of legal troubles while campaigning for a second shot at the White House, and several of the cases against him are scheduled to begin trial before the November 2024 election, starting with the former president's federal election subversion case, which is set to begin March 4.

The ex-president, who maintains innocence in all 91 felony charges spread over four criminal indictments against him, has pleaded to push his trial dates until after next fall. The requests have been dismissed in several cases, although Trump may get his wish in Florida, where presiding federal Judge Aileen Cannon—a Trump appointee who has faced accusations of being biased toward the former president—has agreed to revisit the trial schedule set for the investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents after leaving the White House.

On to the OP! I am guessing any "secret orders" coming from the honorless Judge Cannon probably are in reference to some of the secrets that Trump was attempting to sell. Some of those documents are sensitive enough that even the lawyers for Trump need a high security room to view them. Although not out of the realm to think she may be hunting "info leakers", all she has to do is look across the courtroom to the defense table. IMO Trump has been the leader of leaked info all along. Authoritarianism 101. What better way to convince your disciples the enemy is your neighbors and at the door (and yes, you are the enemy if you don't worship Trump, has already stated he would use the military to root out "vermin", referring to anyone not supporting Trump) than to secretly release sensitive info and blame it on your enemies. "Did you see what THEY did to you?!?! Only I can save you..."

After 60+ years on this earth, insecurity and confidence are the last things I think about. In the last week, the only court action has been three secret orders entered by the Trump-appointed judge. The orders were immediately sealed "until further notice."

Aileen Cannon, the judge presiding over former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case, on Monday ordered the unsealing of documents filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who had asked that they be kept under wraps because they could reveal his trial strategy.

On Monday, Cannon ordered the unsealing of documents filed by Smith in the case, making them public, adding that she was “mindful of the strong presumption in favor of public access to judicial documents.”

On November 22, Smith asked that the filing be kept under seal because it contained government plans to delete “highly sensitive classified information” from sharable discovery.

Cannon said that Smith had not provided “sufficient justification” for his filing because the motions did not “contain or otherwise reveal classified information.”

Additionally, a Friday court document revealed the response to the initial order of unsealing in which Smith’s team agreed to unseal the documents, as requested by the defense, though prosecutors insisted on some redactions.

“The defendants did not oppose the Government’s request, but reserved the right to challenge them later,” Smith wrote, adding that a full unsealing could disclose classified defense counsel information about how government’s CIPA motion.

“This is the same information that the Government proposed redacting. Because the Court rejected that position and ordered the Government to provide unredacted versions of the two docket entries to defense counsel, there is no justification for keeping them from the public.”
