A ninety-five-year-old woman suffering from dementia was tasered by the New South Wales Police as she was shuffling toward a cop with a knife in her hand. The brave cop decided to use nonlethal force to disable her. She has subsequently departed this life, even though the cop could have used his pistol. To even pretend there is nothing wrong with this and cause for great concern is baffling. Some of the stuff coming out of Australia these days is getting very bizarre. The Elderly lady was featured on the tv as she had had a Tandem parachute jump for her Birthday, she was happy and loved it. But a few months later was in a care home waving a knife, got tasered, and died. Color me stupid but aren't these supposed to be places of safety and healing? www.bitchute.com...

There different kinds of dementia but those with Alzheimer, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson and MSA cannot be healed those are progressive memory disorders. Those in generally take sudden leaps to worse and patient can be seen worsening very quickly even in a day. Once we made a homecall and met old man with Alzheimer's disease with vascular features, he was in his garage, had 3 chain saws and one circular saw on garage table and he was behaving frantic, he also had gasoline jar too. He said he is going to fix those saws and work something in the garden, he was totally lost, he said he needs to do fix those but how he even asked our help.. Should we say just "Ok go on " or move him to facility elsewhere ? He was much better day before according his spouse.
Maybe you see a picture here ? and i answered to your question?

To the state this is equivalent to state assisted suicide. It just allows them to carry it out faster and how they want. There are so many other ways this could be handled.

Pls let us know how ? Atm there is no drug which removes plague from the Alzheimer patients brains.. that is what causes the disease.

When patient is dangerous to him/herself and the his/hers close people, what to do ?

I replied OP post when he said " Color me stupid but aren't these supposed to be places of safety and healing?"
Major problem in homes of demented patients is that they are seldomly safe, patients do not understand what is safe what is not and in that point their family should make home safe to them, very often this part is what is lacking.

Some people with vascular dementia are very often aggressive. You need to understand disease how it renders itself in patients. Those who were very lovely in their lives can turn to aggressive and vice versa.
And there are even many cases that demented patient has killed other patient in carehomes

You're assuming that plaque buildup is the cause of dementia. Some people have a lot of plaque and a very high IQ. But if someone for any reason is non compos mentos, you gently restrain them and give them a sedative and let them calm down, and then only if they are a danger to staff and residents. so what is a knife easily available to dementia patients in a rest home anyway.
If you can assume so can I, Granny was quite ok until they shot her up, she then gets a dose of nanoparticles in the brain, they lock her up and in a moment of lucidity she wants to get out, at any cost because she knows she won't be leaving that place alive. The rest home is tragically short-staffed because half of them left before they got shot up.The only staff member on shift that day just called the police because it takes a few to restrain a patient without doing them any physical injury, The cop is just an upgraded security guard because all the decent cops left because they also didn't want to get shot up, such are the ways tragedies unfold.

I would have tazed her. Old people bleed easy. Internally could mean death.

Clare Nowland has died. Shame on that cop for being such a cowardly evil cur, she was using a walking frame ffs literally going nowhere at more than a slow shuffle. Any cop that can't easily and largely painlessly disarm a very old granny with a knife going 2kmph shouldn't be on the streets. How about just take a few steps back until reinforcements arrive if he's so scared? What he did is psychopathic plain and simple, any supporting this action exibit a disturbing lack of empathy, I hope he rots in jail then hell.

Homicide detectives in Australia are investigating why a police officer felt so threatened by a 95-year-old woman clutching a walking aid and steak knife that he needed to Taser her inside her nursing home.

The family of a 95-year-old woman Tasered by a NSW police officer have expressed their "great sadness" after her death.

You are right about bleeding, specially when elder has warfarin or other medicine avoiding blood clotting then always when they fall they should have been checked in ER.

Whenever situation needs manpower cop or guard we are not talking about easy incident. There has always been demented people and some are aggressive. So everything is about nanoparticles for you ?

I want to clarify the above highlighted section because it appears misleading:

The tandem parachute jump was for her 80th birthday ... It is 15 years later ... not a few months.
ABC News Australia - Parachute Jump

That fact aside this is still abhorrent and the cop should never be allowed to interact with the public ever again!

When I read things like this I always remember the UK cop who tackled a machete wielding male without using any weapons himself.
A wild, crazed male who had already hurt people.
Maybe they should have asked this real officer to come and stop the zimmer frame using 95 year old lady. She would still be alive.
Nowadays they are trained not to put themselves into danger.
This means if there was a 'highly deadly' situation where the old lady may have used her little arms to kill an even frailer old person slowly, the cop would choose electrocution before just taking the knife out of her hands and calmly escort her back to bed.

I mean seriously, he could have got cut.

They won't be giving that out unless they have to." Cop murders 96-year-old grandma as she shuffles menacingly toward him on a Zimmer frame waving a bread knife" It wouldn't look good when the Lawyers get stuck in.

Yes plaque build up is main reason for dementia, are you assuming that dementia is only for low IQ? I have treated demented Bankers, Professors, teachers etc .. dementia do not choose the victims by their IQ . Also high bloodpressure causes dementia in older age, also bad nutritional habits and poor diet can be part of it.
