What a difference a day makes. (NYT reporting on election conspiracy theories)

Saw this story today. The media has been dutifully painting any criticism of the election as being without evidence and anyone providing evidence of being a conspiracy kook targeting innocent election workers with harrassment. Well these headlines are 1 day apart.

The NYT had written how election-denying conspiracy theorists had targeted this company with totally debunked claims that they were hosting election data on servers in China and giving critical data to the CCP. Today the CEO was arrested for that exact thing. No apology from the NYT but they did make sure to continue calling attention to the existence of the harrassment under the headline admitting that the claims were deemed factual by the DOJ.

also of note is that the evidence the DOJ used to arrest this CEO came to them from a tip made by the voter integrity group being labeled as conspiracy theorists and election deniers in the NYT article. The same article that states they had no evidence and their claims were completely baseless. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I hope Stuart writes another article, underlining the editorial process and how corporate media is compromised by budget factors and political oversight aka "trusted partners" who hold a metaphorical knife to the throat of any given publication firm.

(un) surprisingly Stuart hasn't tweeted or mentioned this arrest story on his twitter. his most recent tweets are all about the previous article where he is posting snippets from it regarding the alleged death threats and harassment the CEO is receiving. apparently he doesn't feel its important to update his audience that there's new details to that story.

Notice how he says “arrested for theft”. As if the “theft” could have been for anything and didn’t necessarily involve anything about elections. For all he’s saying, the guy could have stolen a candy bar.

Its kinda sad. They are so desperate to grab at anything to show the election was false that they assumed this was about election minipulation without reading.

Can you imagine if Biden lost and democrats cried about the election being stolen every other day.

They should also write to the NYT editor and proprietor/owner calling for his resignation - he failed the first rule of journalism and basic principles to invevstigate claims stories instead of churning PR/Dark Arts statements which is the enemy of journalism.

It's a direct violation of the principles behind journalism ethics and editors have a duty to fire churnalists under numerous codes of conduct.

It breaches most of the NYTs own Ethical Journalism editorial standard rules here: NYT Ethical Journalism Handbook

Still the journalist should have contacted authorities/done legwork to investigate if their was any active investigation into the matter when writing his original copy and sub-editors, editors should have frogmarched him out the newsroom when he originally sent it over.

The difference is that some got a bunch of evidence together, rather than making wild accusations.

Proof is what is needed.
