Here in Nova Scotia, Canada, we've had exactly 90 Covid deaths to date.

Supposedly ~5800 people have contracted covid, with a total population of just under 1 million people.

Despite the fact that Covid just isn't really a huge issue here, we've seen tons of health care system propaganda.

"ICU's are COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED." (Eleven cases of Covid in hospital at the time in the entire province.)

Almost total shut down of "non essential" surgeries, etc.

No access to in-hospital specialists and bloodwork analysis.

And on May 31st, despite being on "lockdown", having 17 new Covid cases, and the number of new cases being on a steep decline, a 19 year old who went to the emergency room with meningitis was turned away TWICE because they couldn't confirm he didn't have Covid. Even though, if he had Covid and was seriously ill, they had a ward to isolate him and would care for him.

They wouldn't admit him until he had the obvious rash that comes with meningitis, and because he had no access to the antibiotics he needed during a critical time in the disease, he succumbed. Link.

After a month of a small ripple of people saying, "This isn't right!", we're finally seeing an inquiry in to why he was turned away despite showing obvious signs of meningitis. In a university city no less, where Drs and nurses are schooled to look out for the signs of the disease in exactly that age group.

None-the-less, we still have brain washed people saying that this, "was almost expected in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC" and, "It's awful that this happened, but our case numbers are finally down to zero and this might not be the case if people with Covid are admitted to the hospital and infect others." These people are idiots because today in Nova Scotia, we have 0 new cases of Covid-19... and last year, at this same time... we had exactly... 0 new cases of Covid-19. Pre-vaccine. It had been on a very similar decline.

So now we seem to have a healthcare system so terrified of a disease that 1.5% of people die from, most over the age of 70 and a majority stemming from a few nursing homes, that they're comfortable letting young people die from treatable diseases despite almost all of the healthcare providers being vaccinated.

I just can't roll my eyes enough anymore at how overblown this is here when it comes of the official narrative.

Sorry to hear this but it's all a year late and a loonie short. People should have been more outraged last spring.

No, there's barely a ripple here about Covid. I just mean about this kid dying after being turned away due to no negative Covid test.

It's a sad byproduct of a year's worth of conditioning into thinking you're GONNA DIE RIGHT NOW!!!! from the 'Rona.

All federal employees in the US should be required to use only loonies, especially if they've been in office for more than 8 years.

Regarding the story (and not directed to you), I don't understand why there's still such a widespread fear of a virus with such a miniscule death rate.

Yeah I heard about this recently from one of my NS co workers. - we have a lot of employees from your province at the mine site.
He was saying it was a big production even being able to work outta province and returning back after two weeks of being on shift.
I feel for ya guys. I think the east coast prepared best and kept their numbers the lowest during this entire debacle.
I’m in Ontario.
Plenty of idiocy here.

I can only sigh...roll my eyes...and face palm so much. The absolute negligence in that boys death is unreal. Even more so the removal of the head of emergency department in Sydney for speaking out against Dr.Strang's measures. In a province with a doctor shortage in the midst of a pandemic you need to pay attention to the guy on the frontlines...not the press conference agenda pusher. And what is with this pissing contest between Rankin and Higgs over border openings? It's not a bubble when everyone is doing their own thing anyway.
I'm just trying to enjoy summer the best way I can whether I can travel out of province or not remains to be seen...but I expect another fall / winter lock down blamed on a variant.

Most people here are just over it, but they aren't vocal about it.

The loudest voices prevail, and those belong to the health care advertising. And it's really good at duping people with limited ability to use google, or question the narrative (our population is 50% over 50), and another good chunk is youth who, despite being pretty isolated in reality, are hooked into the "global thinking" aspect of the pandemic and wouldn't want to murder someones Grandma in Finland by spreading Covid.

If another lockdown happens, which it very well could, you can bet on one thing, which is that no one will bring up the pattern of when infections are happening, despite the fact that the population as a whole is being pretty safe, even if they aren't following the laid out precautions.

If people let this happen again we should just pray that the space aliens come and harvest our scrumptious protein-filled meat sacks.

The maritime provinces have the advantage of being sparsely populated. 90% of cases were from Halifax/Dartmouth, our biggest cities.

We really did do great numbers wise, which is why it's even more shocking that this poor kid was more or less left to die despite the overwhelming safety of treating him.

Agreed...
After all this time it seems people have the memory span of a goldfish in a bowl. And with a possible election looming within the year...who knows what Rankin will pull next.

None of it fits the narrative they are giving, but they are definitely not listening to the ordinary people who are living it.
Dangerous Indian variant? Some one work this out for me cos I'm useless at fractions and persentages.

India covid deaths 388,135 out of just under 1.4 billion people. Is that 1,400.000.000

People really don't like the unelected interim premiere, so I don't think it will be postponed, but anything is possible at this point.
