I have been giving this a lot of thought as of late. With all the UFO videos and talk on the MSM, I started to think. Maybe the aliens ARE here, for whatever reason, but WE are not the reason. Maybe this is just a base out in the boondocks of the galaxy and we are just a very primitive, uninteresting, possibly BORING species they have little or no interest in. They may like our planet, but us, not so much. We may be as interesting to talk to as a squirrel, maybe even less so. Think of the technological change we have seen in the past 25 years. Now think of the amount of change occurring in an advanced society over a MILLION years and you start to get the picture. If they ARE here, they may have seen a decent portion of the galaxy already, and as species go, maybe we are just not all that interesting or useful. Talking to us, might be like talking to a chimpanzee, maybe you could figure out a way to make it work, but what would you really have to talk about? Its our own arrogance that drives the notion that advanced aliens would even want to try to communicate with us. Ok, that's my thought, wondering what anyone else thinks of this.

One thing I've wondered about....
If Aliens were to make it here, they probably journeyed an extreme distance and may not be the one's who built the machine they're traveling in. In a perfect scenario, there would be multiple families, and enough of them to reproduce along the way and teach their kids everything they know, and that could continue for generations....
But what if they're a bunch of deformed inbred idiots by the time they get here...
Or maybe the survivors who make it here, are the offspring of a much less intelligent species who were aboard the ship as slaves, but somewhere along the way they had revolted against, and killed their former masters. They may know how to continue flying the ship, because they're descended from the maintenance workers who kept it running, but they don't really know how it works.
At least as far as we know, literally anything is possible, right? I just don't necessarily think the fact that they could make it here definitively means they will be super-intelligent. They probably would be, but I do think it is at least a possibility that they might not be as smart as most people automatically expect them to be.

Maybe the "aliens" listened to our radio and television
broadcasting and learned our different languages.Maybe
the "aliens" are telepathic and listen to our brain waves.

I think the aliens come to earth to eat the hippies. The "aliens" are not technically putting the drugs in their bodies. I'd like to think there is a space law enforcement.
Edit: we don't live on Earth. We live on drug world
Hawking's warning is posted on The Mary Sue: "If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans." The guy's not wrong about that. Did Hawking even believe in alien life? Of course he did. The universe is a big place. There's bound to be life out there somewhere. As the BBC reported, he also believed it was perfectly rational to assume that aliens would plunder Earth's resources and leave us for dead. Such optimism. Read More: www.grunge.com...

What would a culture possibly MILLIONS of years more advanced than ours have to say to US?

I disagree , it would be easy for them to study and translate all our languages as we've been broadcasting them into space for decades , if they have the technology to get here they have the technology to communicate with us .... or rather our governments.
