What would a culture possibly MILLIONS of years more advanced than ours have to say to US?

My biggest concern would be if the aliens are mammals, insects, reptiles, or plant based.

If they aren’t mammals then I think we would be screwed.

I remember that Saturn rings message. "You people must curb your Earthly impulses". A message pretty clearly meant to tell humans to grow up.

Then the messages of those nuclear missile silo fly overs and deactivations of missiles meaning stop fooling around with these dangerous planet killing devices.

Just two that I remember.

They would probably say:


"So you think, being millions of years less advanced than we, that pointless speculation about our motives is even comprehensible to you?"


Yeah. We are so locked in to projecting our own behaviors on to these guys that it's not even worth worrying about.

We have translators because we know the other languages. There can not be a universal translator for alien languages when there has been no study of or exposure to those languages, so if aliens are here for the first time they would not be able to translate our language until they studied it

Then there is the whole theory of they could view us the way we view a pest or a cow, they could feed off of us or wipe us out not out of maliciousness. Like when you kill a cow you are not doing it out of hate or wanting to wipe the cow out it is seen as acceptable to kill the cow for food or kill the ants because they have infested your home.

This isn’t our rock.

Never has been.

We are an arrogant species.

They don’t care about us.

They are here for minerals and fauna.

If chimpanzees or crickets took to the air with jets they built and started running explosive tests in the jungle we would have a few questions and monitor their activity well before they started flying to other plants.
Where are we in that? Pretty simple really, I don’t get the whole “we’re dumb” thing.

I disagree , it would be easy for them to study and translate all our languages as we've been broadcasting them into space for decades , if they have the technology to get here they have the technology to communicate with us .... or rather our governments.

In human terms, you're spot on and that's the problem we can only think in human terms.

We can speculate about the technological capabilities of Extraterrestrials until the cows come home but we can only do so within our rather limited and narrow view of the Universe(s).
