Oh no! Would be a shame if one of those missiles was intercepted and redirected into three gorges dam.

No, after a maintenance crew went over it, and no.

There's a permanent U-2 detachment at Fairford. The aircraft that go to and from the ME stop through there for fuel and crew rest, and the aircraft based there fly their own missions in and out of Fairford. They don't actually need chase cars to land, but they make it a lot easier if they have them.

Concerning muscismagic OP and the asiantimes article Alchemst7 provided. Here are all the quotes that were in the article.

"carrier killer"

"close to the Chinese Military"

“China is signaling to the US, its allies and partners that China has an answer to America’s aircraft-carrier strike groups, an answer that is always available and not dependent on deployment schedules,”

“In effect, China is saying, ‘If the US puts two carriers in the South China Sea, we send aircraft carrier-killer missiles there.’”

“no fly zone”

“a holy # moment for the United States.”

“kill chain”

“jam”

Considering that the only two countries that have operational carriers in the region are the US and China, I'd say that narrows things down quite a bit.

As we weaken, our smugness strengthens.

China is growing, the USA imploding.

Now imagine the disarray the military is in when society is collapsing.

China has no need for military conflict with the US, they can do as much damage with a fake YouTube video.

China, NK and Venezuela et al are all going about their business as usual no matter how loud we bark.

We can’t impose sanctions any more, why engage in warfare with us? It’s going to be social warfare not military. It’s the 21st century.

I know right. We took their gun powder idea and ran away with it. And look at what we’ve done around the planet 😉😇

If they hit a carrier then they would get a face full of tomahawk missiles from the SUbmarines shadowing them on a return track most likely.

Just curious, these warning shots, how do they do it? Do they lock on to a carrier, fire then self destruct? Or shoot over them? Or far enough away the carrier knows it's not a threat? Sounds like a dangerous game to play.

No, they perform a live fire exercise, and demonstrate that the missiles work, and are deployed. That's all. They're not fired anywhere near another ship. They may set up a target ship, or even build one designed to look like whatever ship they may be used against, but it's just a target barge.

They got mad because the U.S. flew a U2 spy plane over the south China sea while China was conducting a military exercise. So China fired those missiles as a warning.

Ah, so that's why they got salty. Thanks for this.

Being honest and realistic about it just imagine what it's like to be with the Chinese military / government right now. You have seen your mother country Russia transform from Communism to the ultimate form of Capitalism while also becoming a friend but at the same time an idealogical foe with thousands of nukes, then you have India playing a game for Asian dominance with you in SE asia, while at the same time you are pretty much surrounded in Korea, Taiwan and Japan by the most powerful military machine called the USA planet Earth has ever seen in recorded history. It really is no wonder the Chinese are getting a little trigger twitchy

Didn't they send some Detroit muscle there within the last couple years to act as chase cars?

They're at Fairford. That's the normal operating base for the UK Det. The only reason he went into Mildenhall was an oil quantity indication showing an engine problem, and it was closer.

If they don’t smarten up fast their spanking will come much sooner than planned...
