The ad issue is just a sore spot. ATS is literally the only website that I use which experiences these kinds of problems with ads.

Maybe sell stars and flags so one can give a thread or post multiple flags and stars is another way to generate revenue.

hate to see the site die, and i would pony up the 10 bucks, but the way i understand it according to Skeptic $25,000 a month, is the minimum to keep the site running right now as it is, not changing anything. so what happens six months from now when costs go up, or code needs work and not enough new members join. would you want to keep paying more to keep up with the costs.

I would, as a few others have said, this is one of the better alternative news aggregation platforms out there. Not only do you get the news posts, you also get discussion around that news and alternating viewpoints. It's not always pretty, but it has been a wonderful site and I hate to see it go.

How much money does it take to run this site?

I've just had a look at the site statistics;
Total member accounts:309,685
members who have posted:169,023
percentage who have posted:55 %
members with 20 or fewer posts:106,765
members with 20 to 500 posts:33,590
members with 500 to 1,00 posts:2,995
members more than 1,000 posts:3,539

So, since the site started there has only been 3,539 people who have posted over a thousand times.

3,539 people pay $10 a month = $35,390 per month or $424,680 per year.

Simplistic I know but I can't imagine many people who don't post that often wanting to pay too much to keep this site going.

I'd be fine with a $10/month subscription, but I don't see ATS ownership viewing this as a valid option. Apparently it would be 25k+/month to viably keep the site running according to SO.

So I guess we need some ATS millionaires to help keep this place running a couple more years. And even then, I see Zero enthusiasm over it from ATS ownership.
