I don't think its hard to understand, rather its an eye opener for the younger generations. My lad is aware that things were very different in this era, he knows that his grandads father was down the mines as chld in the north of england, Its one thing knowing that life was very different, but seeing cleaned up film in colour is something else

Look at all these unnattended children! Where are their parents!!??

Jk,

People today wouldn't be able to handle the every day intricacies of that time period.

Looks like you grew up and matured fast during that time.

Whoa. These folks are ugly. I guess men and women just keep doing it no matter what.

If your face is different, they would probablyl think you were ugly. Half the definition of beauty is "the kind of thing I'm used to seeing".

Most of the young boys in this video will be dead in 15 years time.

I love this type of stuff!

Btw- the kid on the right at the 3:10 mark is WAY too cool for this video, if you ask him. Good to know that if social media existed back in the day, there would still be people like him

This was the norm until the 1960's. They were class-defined hats, as well;

This is absolutely fantastic.

So much has changed in 119 years... Even the little things like how the people move, hand gestures, walking with hands waistcoat pockets etc.

Think we have come a long way, sometimes doesn't feel like it but would rather be living in these times. That said, I wouldn't mind spending a day as a fly-on-the-wall in the Victorian times

The best thing is seeing the techicolor remastered stuff
granted its a bit later than this, but seeing like 1939 jesse james or robin hood (with errol flynn) or wizard of oz

in hd 4k color so strong you can literally see the freckles on her face, and where they attacked the wig extension to her normal hair, it brings a totally different dimension, your seeing it literally as if it was filmed yesterday!

I dunno , Chaplin Looked Funnier in Black and White . Colorization of Old Film Footage Seems Sacrilegious to Me Considering the Original ART Intended .........

Through that lense they didnt realize people were staring back at them 120 years in the future. If they could have known this, I wonder what they would have to tell us, and we them? Great find. Gets the imagination juices flowing.

Anyone else also notice how "hardy" the women were in the video? Not a "twiggy" in the bunch. And some of them seemed really tall.
They could give some of the men today, a run for their money. LOL

Hell, most women still do. Men are growing up to be pushovers now.

I love watching this! Stunning indeed!

But the first video was invented around 1910-1918.. how can it be from 1901??

Despite the 1897 date, there is some pretty good video of the President William McKinnley inaugural parade and swearing in. Even has his predecessor, Grover Cleveland in it. On YouTube.
