Twitter will ban all political advertising, the company’s chief executive officer Jack Dorsey announced on Wednesday, in a move that will increase pressure on Facebook over its controversial stance to allow politicians to advertise false statements.
Twitter to ban all political advertising, raising pressure on Facebook
Personally I think this a really good idea, ban all political advertising on social media, stops a lot of arguments and external influence. I am sure that it will be difficult to enforce this 100% but it will go a long way to helping. I would like to see other social media giants take this approach. I remember listening to a podcast about this issue not long ago where they worked out that the money that social media firms make from political advertising is actually a drop in the ocean and that some members are now put off social media because of politics. So I wouldn't be too surprised of others follow suit.

This nonsense keeps coming up. Why would socialists support corrupt, capitalist enterprises like twitter, and why would such entities go against their own benefit to promote an ideology under which their business would be dismantled?

I think that you're mistaking socialism for communism. Socialism allows free enterprise, in fact it actively encourages it so long as it benefits rather than exploits people.
The people who run companies like Twitter and Google believe that they are the good guys and that they are providing a public service for the betterment of mankind. It's why they can be extremely bias, and often support censorship. They believe that they are helping rather than hurting public discourse by directing it in a more liberal direction.

Companies wielding political power or influence to the degree that US tech giants (amongst others) is called a corporatocracy. The very antithesis of socialism really.
Aka Fascism.

If you come on ATS and read without logging in you get political ads on the screen all the time. "Will you vote for Trump"... "Should Nancy Impeach?"...

fascism is where the government tells corporations what to do.
Like Hitler telling Mercedes-Benz to build mobile gas chambers. This is the other way around.
