You got weird "friends"...

Peace

Best to get rid of "friends" of low character. Even if you only have 4 left in the world, at least they will be TRUE FRIENDS of QUALITY.

I've lost 4 of my 5 best college buddies to the 2016 election. Not only did they de-friend me, they hopped off all social media that we shared when even middle-of-the-road centrists told them they were getting too extreme and wack-a-doodle.

I assume they found some echo chamber forums that re-enforced their paradigms.

Newsflash? Really. How about giving this a little thought.

I came to ATS years ago because I had been leery of the major news sources for DECADES. You can believe that or not.
I have remained here, gathering the information this place has to disseminate for just about the same amount of time you have been registered. OK?

So you think I am having trouble with discernment to see the obvious. What is that that is obvious, that much of the media is critical of Trump? Of course they are, He is a bombastic failure of a businessman who only managed to aviod the poorhouse because he could make big loans, one after another from big banks and failure to pay back those loans by squeeking through loopholes, Had he not been offered a celebrity job on NBC he might also have gone broke but for the money he made from that which saved his brand.

fortune.com...

As far as never having met him, I have watched a lot of video that focuses on him. I have listened to the tripe that comes out of him constantly and followed his ramblings on twitter. While you can say you think that I lack discernment I can say as well that it might be you continuing to believe the pandering he has offered to his conservative base.

I know people like that around here. I never ever heard anyone say stuff like that in the past, but now people are brainwashed to believe that the Democratic politicians are more trustworthy than Republicans. I can't understand how people could think any politician is someone to put trust into. I have heard at least two people say a similar thing in the last two years, not directly to me though, to someone that was once their friend before this chaos erupted in our country a few years back.

Something is wrong with the minds of many people in our society, I do notice that the people who are getting polarized the most around here are on long term meds or are taking stuff like Benedryl or other over the counter meds on a regular basis.

Eh, I was going to say that my sister has three boys in that approximate age range, and really, politics doesn't necessarily have much to do with it. Depending on the day, what one has the other two want or what one has, the other two don't want anything to do with something the same.

So if one gets a blue (or red) bowl, the other two could beat each other bloody (figuratively) either trying to both have blue bowls two or to have bowls any color but blue themselves.

Or they may not care at all.

But they will all three be on the same page whatever one it is.

I can tell this comes from someone who knows.

I only have 2 boys (20 and 22), but, same thing. LMAO

Any candidate that encourages dissent between Americans is not your friend!

Trump is not your friend, then.

He wants a united front, it's YOU lot that are drawing lines.

jesus #ing christ, you're an idiot most of the time, but this time.. all of it.

Idiot.
Trump calls the media, the Fed and Democrats "enemies of the people", but I'm the one drawing lines.

Yeah right.
Idiot

.

What would you call them when they go from one great big lie after another when their candidate lost? What would you call them when they are treasonous?

Oh, you don't want to believe that.

Grandma always says, "the proof is in the tasting of the pudding". I have a very bad taste in my mouth about our so called media news outlets and their big fat lies.

Part of being in a cult is you are not supposed to be friends with people outside of the cult

And when in a cult, you don't talk about the cult. Everyone that does not agree witht he group collective is to be shunned and seen as evil by all those in the cult.

Interesting similarities, aren't they?

Yeah but that same argument is a double edged sword and can be used both ways. I guess everyone who fought the Nazi's was just some cult, eh?

The NAZI anitfa were Marxists from eastern Europe pushing for a Russian Communist style purge of society. Jews were still on the menu for destruction by both sides.

" I was not a ______ and I didn't speak up for them when they came for them. When they came for me there was no one to speak for me"

That was both styles of Socialist gov in action.

:ideaRead "A Day in the Life of Ivan Dionisiovich" to see how it actually is going to be if we let one side of that sword swingor the other. NAZI types are in this country just like the KKK. They are not wanted by anyone and are not influencing the debate on freedom other than speech being so. Less than 1% would support them in my estimation.

Agreed; I've got a basic understanding of Soviet atrocities in WW2 and immediately after (and I genuinely used Nazi's as the example because their own evil is immediately obvious and almost universally agreed upon), but I think my main point still stands that axiomatic platitudes make great soundbites but can be easily used by whichever side wishes to mold them to suit their viewpoint.

Business loans are a part of business. Cashflow can sometimes be tight. Trump has operated over 500 businesses. About 1% of them have gone bankrupt. That's life. You are free to believe what you want, but know that you look really stupid when you claim a billionaire business man with actual momuments to his success dotted all over the world is a failed business man.

If you also truly believe that the media coverage is fair and balanced and what they have been doing over the past 3 years is fair, then you do very much lack discernment. Undeniably so.

One thing I’ve noticed with only a few exceptions I’m aware of; folks on the left rarely seem to disagree with Dem politicians or condemn them. Conservatives on the other hand — at least all the ones I know — seldom seem to agree completely with GOP politicians and condemn many of them in the strongest terms. For example, everyone I know who voted for Trump disagrees with him strongly on at least one issue and wishes he wouldn’t say some of the things he says and tweets. With conservatives in general, I think we vote for the lesser of two evils. Hell, I voted for Obama twice but became disgusted with him and the Left after Ferguson, MO. Then Trump promised to build a wall and deport illegal aliens and I did a 180 degree turn in my party allegiance. A candidate who actually promised to enforce our laws! It was music to my ears, though I couldn’t believe I was voting for Donald Trump of all people; someone I previously ridiculed and couldn’t stand.

That's true, if you ask a Trump supporter to state 3 things they like about Trump and three things they don't like about him they can do that, but somebody with TDS can't state 3 things they like about him, only 6 thing they hate him for.

I will start so others can join in to make the point.

1)Tries to uphold the laws of the nation on illegal immigration.
2)Appointed decent Judges to the Supreme Court
3)Has done lot's to build up the American economy

3 Dislikes

1)Disrespectful to long time allies, talking about the ones that fought with America in WW1 & WW2 and Korea.
2)Incendiary speech that divides and does not heal.
3)Needs to be more selective with tariffs on countries imports, have some tariffs but be smarter about it.

If those are her terms then that was never a friend to you in the first place. I am Conservative and I am married to a hardcore Liberal. I despise her opinions and her beliefs and we have had our arguments and have gotten past them. We just don't discuss politics, and things are fine now. So, if I can be successfully married to a Liberal, then your friend has no excuse for putting you in such a compromising situation.

I have dropped all trumpers who were in my life. I cannot pretend we share any values, we Don't. I am not racist, they are. I do not support an idiot as president, they do. They are delusional, all hit with all the lies, and they either believe the lies, or Don't care. I cannot see them the same, all I see now is the racism, bigotry, hate, and willingness to continue this charade.

To say all Trump supporters are racist is beyond ignorant. It really is. There are many examples on here that people that might support him, but don't love him 100%. Maybe they like 60% of his policies vs 40% of another candidate. That is how people should vote. If you can support a candidate 100% that must be some oversweet koolaid
