So in summary despite the claims of fake news:

The USN has yet to deny that the memo/story contained in the WSJ is fake simply that the stern was NOT covered when POTUS was there.

The USN has yet to address the issue nor deny they were asked by the White House to do so

The other thing I missed is that according to the article they could not move the ship out of the way because it is still being repaired from the collision that took place in August of 2017. Jebus that should be explained as well. 2 years for a frontline ship??????

If its obviously Fake news then why are Brietbart, the NY Post, and Fox quoting it without their usual denials?

The WSJ sides more conservative no? When did it become 'Fake News"

When it's revealed that Senator John McCain was a traitor, murdered many sailors, and cavorted with terrorists who hate the United States, it will be obvious why President Trump had/has less than zero respect for the man.

They couldn't start the repairs until the investigation was done, then they had to have the budget allocated, shipyard space, the required parts, etc. For the amount of damage suffered two years and counting isn't bad at all.

As for the controversy, this isn't the first time the White House played this game and it won't be the last. The most recent example, off the top of my head was the Obama visit to Alaska. They prettied up an F-22 as one of the backdrop aircraft, only to be told by the White House to remove it and make sure there weren't any in the pictures of him visiting the base.

It WORKED if evidence by the context of your OP.

It encourages the audience to vet their information and whatever it is they consume on the internet.

It is a prime example of why we have to be careful about anything that is concerning "Politics" that there is a high chance the story will be twisted and misconstrued for public perception.

What more could you ask for when a perfect example is plopped right here in our forums for all to see.

I want to be as respectful as possible considering it is a Mod and thus will not overstep my lane.

This morning FOX (which you mention) just came out to declare this story Fake News.
