So the USN, itself, has debunked this thread as Fake News.
Isn't that enough to send this thread to the HOAX bin?
I would hate to think that on ATS, different standards apply to threads posted by Super Moderators.

My father served int eh US Navy and I'm disgusted beyond belief
So, let's see if this works... Now that this has been conclusively proven to be complete BS, are you 'disgusted beyond belief' that:
- MSM would lie about something?
- MSM would besmirch the name and reputation of your President?
- So many lefties would star your OP in support of such claims which were so obviously nonsense?
Just curious...

I thought I'd follow up with my question from a few pages ago...
Well, FredT? Are you equally disgusted beyond belief by the things I mention, now that you realise the truth of the story?
Or are you just turning your back on this thread and walking away?
Trump told reporters on Thursday morning it was done by someone who was "well meaning."

"Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan announced that he asked his chief of staff to investigate what was behind obscuring the name of the USS John McCain during President Donald Trump's visit to Japan." www.usatoday.com...
A spokesperson for the Pentagon said early Thursday morning that acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan had not been aware that the White House asked the U.S. Navy to make sure the USS John S. McCain was “out of sight” for President Trump’s visit to Japan.
"Secretary Shanahan was not aware of the directive to move the USS John S McCain nor was he aware of the concern precipitating the directive,” Lt. Colonel Joe Buccino said in a statement.

I'm retired Navy and believe me, McCain was a nasty and lazy bastard in the Navy. Not to mention some other things.
Ugh, O.M.G. you feel for fake news again.

But I digress
Back to the topic:
Someone (who is yet to be determined as everybody has been quick to tweet the standard "Not Me" ) wanted to prevent the Toddler in Chief from wigging out over a ship named after not one, not two, but 3 US servicemen who apparently were okay from a podiatry standpoint to serve in the military.
The story broke not at MSNBC or CNN which will make some of you apoplectic at the mere mention, but rather the conservative leaning WSJ
Aside from pointing out that the stern was not covered (which almost everybody is agreement), Trump himself has acknowledged that whoever did it at the white house was "well meaning" at the request of the WH, someone tried to have the ship moved or covered up.
