This was posted on the Twitter account of the "us navy pacific fleet"

"The name of USS John S. McCain was not obscured during the POTUS visit to Yokosuka on Memorial Day. The Navy is proud of that ship, its crew, its namesake and its heritage."

Wait, so you're saying this might have been "fake news"....

What's next, will a reporter forge a tweet from trump about kim jung and biden?

NEVER!!!!!

I'm not saying it's fake news, but it's fake news..

Who ya gunna trust.
The Washington post or the us navy?

Salute!!

Beautiful ship, love the oversized loudspeakers on the front. Excellent to inform the enemy of what your armed forces are up to.

Seems like a sliding scale. Neither, though one less than the other of course.

They could have pulled out and saved the world grief.

Other than that I have no beef with them.
Unless you know something I dont.

Had they not added the crapstain to the list of names it would be no issue.

Honestly, even the most sycophant Trump supporter cannot defend this utter BS. The White House requested that the USN cover up the of the USS John S. McCain ( The name sake of 3 American hero's) cause god forbid Trump be uncomfortable. Disgusting that Acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan agreed with the White House.

I'm not sure who in Navy put their foot down but someone ordered the tarp removed before the visit and they should be commended.

My father served int eh US Navy and I'm disgusted beyond belief

A senior White House official also confirmed that they did not want the destroyer with the McCain name seen in photographs. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said the president was not involved in the planning, but the request was made to keep Trump from being upset during the visit.www.washingtonpost.com... ad314b2-8272-11e9-933d-7501070ee669_story.html?utm_term=.4c8cb2b4f33b

Honestly is he the leader of the free world or a toddler

But he explicitly said “president was not involved in the planning”.

Do you think they could also throw a tarp over the N Korean missiles as well? That should also calm down the Japanese who are right in the firing line of Trump's spectacular failure.

Okay hardly fake news. I realize its the trendy straw-man but honestly

BrietbartReport: WH wanted USS John McCain moved for Trump Japan trip

The pic is from the WSJ . Yes its based on the conservative WSJ report, but the pic is not a fake unless you are suggesting otherwise

I liked McCain all of my life.

But I’m glad before his life ended he showed his true colors .

The Maverick played the middle his whole career.

But in the end he sided with the enemy of the American people .

With his involvement in the steel dossier he betrayed the country .

The first link, I could not read because it is behind a paywall/adblock popup. I don't pay to be lied to.

The other two stated a similar quote(that I read in the 2nd and will quote from the 3rd).

"Trump has tweeted that he “was not informed about anything having to do with the Navy Ship USS John S. McCain during my recent visit to Japan.”"

So it would seem this isn't trumps doing, but someone else who either inferred trumps "intent" or specifically sought to make him look bad so that detractors would spread it across social media and other online platforms(like ats).

I would say from his tweet he didn't know anything about the ship or any orders being given by anyone.

"I was not informed about anything having to do with the Navy Ship USS John S. McCain during my recent visit to Japan. "

Even MSNBC appeared to refute Ballhaus' claims, noting that the tarp was removed before the president arrived in Japan.

"A spokesperson for US Pacific Fleet said the picture of the tarp is from Friday and it was taken down on Saturday," MSNBC's Katy Tur tweeted. "'All ships remained in normal configuration during POTUS' visit,' CDR Nate Christensen said."
