Agreed, but nevertheless, I feel at some point they are going to flex their manufacturing strength (other than in shipbuilding).

There's already been an improved variant. The original J-20s were using the Russian engines. These were prototype birds and the very last of them had the WS-10s.

The J-20As are the ones actually in current production. It's an LRIP and there are varying estimates on how many have been built ranging from 30 to as much as 60. These are using the WS-10. They may get an engine upgrade shortly with the WS-10B, which has increased thrust. The A model will continue to be made until the WS-15 is ready, the new and improved engine.

Once its ready, speculated to be around 2025, they will introduce other improvements for the J-20 and roll the J-20B model out. Supposedly, there will be thrust vectoring involved then.

These are based off of official and semi official or perhaps official leaker might be better (big shrimp, as they are called) sources on the sino internet. China signals a lot. You just have to - sometimes literally - read the language.

At what point is China going to make a statement (militarily) to push back against the US presence in the SCS? I know China tends to be a more reserved nation, but I don't think the increased US presence in the region is making the Politburo feel comfortable. And while the presence may be advantageous for propaganda purposes, the hawks are going to demand more be done to deter "US aggression". Their shipbuilding is already happening at a high rate, there may be truth to Minnie Chan's article about FRP claim.

Wonder if they go into the paintshop after every PR event to apply new camo and squadron codes to make it look like they have more..

They dont need to. Even at the lrip rates, they will have as many j-20s as we have f-22s quite quickly. In 2025, they will switch to the j-20bs and then go frp.

China doesn't need to match the numbers the us has. They to do better than the combat ready aircraft in theater.

Simulator for the J-20. What's the eyebrow raising bit?

Other than homeboy’s haircut?

1) it’s a $100,000 simulator vs the U.S. $20,000,000 version?

2) pilot in the back? WSO can wear glasses but pilot probably can’t

It's a simulator for a two seater fighter. Supposedly, this is for the J-20. We've not seen a two seater J-20.

Unless its a remote station for the instructors to keep tabs on the students and to throw in the odd curveball during training.

There are reports of many things. Like a strike F-22.

A full blown J-20A rather than J-20.

Changes between the J-20 and the J-20A.

Can you spot them and explain what they are?
