We have 350,000,000~ people.

That don't need to make it fair to keep their numbers up. So they make it easier to sift through everyone right off the bat.

Personally, I don't think it's the worst approach in the world.

Gender choice is not a right, it's not even a choice.

We can't choose what sex we are born as.

Dysphoria is not a right, it's not protected by the Constitution. At least not until the leftist dems taking over and start drafting a bill for it.

Haha, should have bolded seeming, unless you're an extremist agnostic like myself, or a goat f###er, you're all bigots to me.

I see it as a question of competency of decision making and of soundness of mind and if a person with a mental disease should be allowed to be trained into a killer and given an assault rifle.

The military pays for Viagra, hormone therapy is much cheaper. They also pay for childbirth which is more costly than the surgery.

people seem to forget that the military isn't a democracy and when you join your rights become restricted, this shouldn't even be an issue that civilian courts should be interfering with, it's supposed to be a military court matter.

Since when is the army turning people down for whatever arbitrary reasons they decide a new thing?

What is so different about the US military now that all of a sudden these people who where fully able to serve a few hours ago and are fully able to serve in the militaries of other developed states are unable to serve in the American military.

You are right it is not all of a sudden... See my point about wide brush mentality.

In this case it is not a transgender ban, so transgenders can join, they just can not seek gender transition while active.

The SE decision was to allow this to continue while still in a legal battle, so it also was not a formal court opinion. It does put weight on Presidential powers as it basically overruled the Ninth Circuit, which is somewhat common, as the 9th feels it can with a pen overrule Presidential powers at will.

The military discriminates against people every day.
Too old
Too fat
Too skinny
Too dumb
Color blind
Flat feet
Mental problems
Criminal record
Drug use

Thanks for trying, but you're not good enough. Nothing personal, but that's how you maintain the most powerful and effective military force ever.

You have to run the 2 mile in x amount of time. Do 40 Pushups in X amount of time and other physical requirements.

Oh, I 100% agree on that. I definitely do not want the military to be an equal opportunity employer. I think my set back is that transgender people are not technically considered mentally ill. Even though it is a somewhat popular public opinion, I base my opinion of the DSM - V. Who knows, one day it may include that.

I am not asking the military to let anyone slide or rearrange any of their entrance qualifications. I just don't really care if someone is transgender as long as I am not paying for it and they prove themselves worthy.

Clearly to many they should be considered mentally ill. You have to be wide awake craZ to up and cut your penis or grow one and the statistics are now overwhelming that they are unstable and very likely to commit suicide. All that is happening for real, and that is no matter what choice they made about outward gender.

In what regards?

Again it shouldn't matter, so long as you can meet the standards you should be able to join up.

But, isn't this the argument? They (transgenders) DON'T "meet the standards", so the standards have to be changed to meet them (transgenders)?

See the issue here?

Personally I think they should be allowed in the military, BUT only if they wear the same uniform as everyone else and go through the same training as everyone else, recieve no special treatment and recieve no medical support for their transgenderism. That's the problem, it was pushed so far as to the point where special treatment was being called for and medical expenses and procedures that meant high cost and also no actual service. Not tenable.

Sensible ruling.

Transgender persons serve in various militaries in various roles around the world.

They have been doing so in the US Military openly for a few years now also.

Why then can't they now?

What is so different about the US military now that all of a sudden these people who where fully able to serve a few hours ago and are fully able to serve in the militaries of other developed states are unable to serve in the American military.

What is different is that a few radicals ruined it for everyone else. When you have to deal with calls for paying medical expenses to meet sex change surgery on tax payer dime and you introduce stupid ideas about transgender training as part of military training, it's gone too far.

Ultimately it's the President's decision and he made the right one to bring more order back to an institution that requires order.

Dude honestly if you're going to come into a discussion about gender dysmorphia at least learn that there is a difference between gender and biologically assigned sex.
