There is no precedent to be set, presidents have declared National Emergencies in the past to secure funding or resources for things like the war on drugs, Iran conflict, and the war on terror. When Trump took office, there were 28 active national emergency declarations. The southern border's porosity and endless assault from immigrant criminals, illegals, and invaders IS a national security issue and it is a national emergency. This declaration would be Trump doing his job, the job we elected him to do, and using the toolbox of presidential authority granted to him by Congress as part of the office.

I hope he does it. Somebody needs to be the adult in the room and shut that southern sieve down once and for all.

There are several layers of "National Emergencies". This wouldn't be like those declared after a Hurricane, or a riot, where people can't come on the streets during certain times.

Yes..he CAN, but Trump's own DOJ told him that Mueller would charge him with Obstruction of Justice if he declassified the Spygate documents while Mueller is still witch-hunting. Mueller wants to keep going in order to protect deep-state crooks, as much as to eventually "get Trump". He's killing two birds with one Witch-Hunt.

All I have to say is:
Battle of Columbus New Mexico, March 9, 1916 wasn't nearly as bad as what we deal with today along the boarder. Back then we sent a massive amount of the US Army to deal with it. Now we back down because of "Identity Politics". Declaring a National Emergency in order to build a wall is better than declaring one over the drug epidemic especially since they are interlinked.

While I dislike the idea of a National Emergency being declared for something that every American should see as an issue. I also dislike a political movement trying to undermine the sovereignty of American when they have not only taken an oath to uphold and protect it, but also because they have been picked by the populace to represent Americans and American interests and not their own.

The US government in it's entire history has NEVER declared martial law. We've had plenty of emergencies and disasters though.

There are several plans and many different designs have actually been constructed for proof of concept.

Oh really? Where's the prototype wall, with the "venetian blind" like steel slats, with doors that open and close, and windows to see through, that Trump has most recently championing?

What about flooding and erosion? What's the plan for that? How about wild life migration? Imminent Domain plots?

While it is not unlimited, it should be done with caution.

When he does this, he will have to make a written declaration, saying why, what the emergency is, and when it would be over, and thus deliver it to the congress. And once every 6 months reports have to be given, and then once a year he has to renew it.

The area would be under martial law.

Or Congress could just pass a bill to secure the border.

All someone has to do is post the graphic first-responder photos of American children, women, men, who have been slaughtered and maimed by Illegal Aliens.

Photos of Syrian children killed and disfigured initiated a strong response from both Democrats and Republicans. How much more would being shown the effects of Illegal Alien-caused carnage to our own citizens, illicit a powerful response?

But, maybe Dems hate of Trump is stronger than their love of American lives?

As a constitutional expert pointed out yesterday, the U.S. Government could be found LEGALLY LIABLE for all expenses along with punitive damages, brought by families who have lost loved ones, or are incurring huge medical expenses, lost wages, pain and sufferings, etc.. due to illegal alien crimes.

If the U.S. government doesn't do everything within reason to protect citizens, the U.S. Government is as liable as the person who gives a murderer the gun to shoot people.

But that is not what Trump wants, he wants a wall. To secure the border, would mean that they would have to hire more people to do a job that is darn near impossible to do, to patrol some 3,000 miles, and work 24/7, and that is just one part, not including the waterways. This and have to do immigration reform a system that is lacking much, including funding and people.

I would venture to guess that the number far exceeds 25,000.

Are their deaths any less significant because their murders were at the hands of “legal” citizens?

How many citizens’ lives might have been saved if the drug companies had been held responsible for the opiate addiction crisis?

(Hint: according to NIH, the number is approximately 72,000 in 2017 alone)
