More than nine years later, a night in Las Vegas is at the center of a sexual assault case involving one of the world's preeminent athletes.

According to a lawsuit filed in Nevada, Portugal and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman in a penthouse at the Palms Casino Resort in June 2009. Kathryn Mayorga, who is now 34, asserts that Ronaldo raped her, with explosive and detailed allegations being published last week in the German publication Der Spiegel.

This one looks very, very bad. She actually reported and also went to the hospital so there is some evidence. Happened in 2009 and she got a deal for $375,000, but it seems that she's reopening the case.

After allegedly committing anal rape on Mayorga, Ronaldo permitted her to leave the bedroom and told her that he was sorry. Ronaldo, as Mayorga remembers it, assured her that he normally acts like a gentleman, but that in this instance he had failed to live up to that standard.

Hours later, Mayorga was hospitalized for trauma from a sexual assault. Her complaint contends that the medical exam included photographic evidence confirming Mayorga’s sodomization and anal contusions. Mayorga says that a nurse at the hospital curiously discouraged her from implicating Ronaldo to the authorities. If Mayorga did so, the nurse admonished, the public would portray Mayorga as a woman who was attempting to extort money through false accusations.

I can't understand why a guy like Cristiano Ronaldo, with all those women crazy for him around the world, needs to do that. His career could get destroyed now.

I find it hard to believe he'll face any punishments from this.

Wow. He allegedly admitted he raped her, to his representatives. At least according to the article. He said she was saying no and stop. But he was adamant that it was in the vagina and not the butt. According to the article. She went to the hospital right after to get tests done and to the police to press charges. Both basically told her to take the money.

I guess some details are missing on this story. I know people tend to be pretty hypocrite when these allegations are about famous people, but c'mon. Did she really wanted this story out and couldn't press charges?

Did she had anyone to corroborate her story, or anything she could use to add on the allegations?

I mean I get it. Just like this young lady at the time she was raped by Ronaldo, you are butthurt, because of the Kavanaugh stuff. However, this is a separate case.

With a more credible witness who did everything right. Went to hospital. Went to police. Isn't that what everyone said Ford should of done? Well this girl did that. The police and hospital told the girl not to make a fuss, no one would believe her, even though apparently she did have anal contusions, which would be evidence. So she hired a lawyer and Ronaldo paid her.

Why did he pay her if he was innocent? In its own way, is that not also evidence.

This appears to be about money to me now.

Ronaldo at the time wasnt making anything close to what he is now.

By reopening this, she will likely easily get the $375k paid back and probably get a few million out of it.

I believe her and I believe he raped her. I'm just stating my opinion that she should've went to the authorities, the whole lot of them, before giving up the justice for some money. if she had all the evidences it was dumb of her to take the money and a "no" for an answer. Of course 2009 was a long time ago and women didn't had a strong voice as they do now.

And paying her isn't proof of anything. He could as well just wanted to save some time and end the trouble faster.

Not like he can use money for toilet paper, right?
