There are things that you can do like reinforcing wooden joists with metal joist L, X and T sections. You can also make sure that every piece of furniture like cupboards, drawers and wardrobes are secured to walls. Not forgetting flatscreen televisions and monitors. Just make sure that when someone shakes your house like a tin box, the contents don't rattle around.
