So we all Know it's just around the Corner and it will happen. The last Mega Quake to happen in CA was in 1857 let that sink in for a bit.....
The amount of buildings and roads since then have increased exponentially Granted there are building codes and such But How many have been truly tested ?

The M3.5 EQ this morning was a small test And be vigilant something tells me that this is just warming up......

Scientists say it’s possible for Southern California to be hit by a magnitude 8.2 earthquake. Such a quake would be far more destructive to the Los Angeles area because the San Andreas fault runs very close to and underneath densely populated areas.

Southern California’s most recent mega-quake was in 1857, also estimated to be magnitude 7.8, when the area was sparsely populated. (That was considerably stronger than the 7.1 quake that hit Mexico on Tuesday, causing buildings to collapse and leading to a significant loss of life).

Yeah, but "just around the corner" geologically could be in the next five minutes or 5,000 years from now.

Scared the crap outta me.
Not cool, man. Any way to maybe change the title? The way it's worded leads one to believe it's actually happened.

Sorry if it seemed clit bait y but i just read the attached article and thought you would like to be informed not a prediction just an informative update i know ATS doesn't do predictions very well unless it's has a time date stamp with GPS coordinates !

However with the recent EQ and tsunami just thought being informed is better than ignorance.....

Newbie mistake, reform your rep and edit your title to the real headline.

California could be hit by an 8.2 mega-earthquake, and it would be catastrophic

A. Misleading headline.

B. Earthquakes of this strength happen all. of. the. time. in California. USGS

C. What is with your addiction to doom porn?

ETA:

D. They should replace "magnitude" with "magmatude" when talking about earthquake strengths.
